I couldn't either. I think it is the dumbest most overrated show ever. I'm convinced people just like it because you are perceived as cool if you say you like Arrested Development.

I'm uncool and I cherish both of those shows like family. If Seinfeld and Arrested Development had bodies, I'd hug them. Never go against the family.

I intentionally used the word "cherish" to provoke a response and still no takers? Come on!

Eh, I thought Seinfeld was OK - at best. I never went out of my way to watch it. Sometimes I thought it was funny, sometimes I didn't.
To that point, I just don't enjoy sitcoms. I think a show like Impractical Jokers (or, to a lesser extent, even Tosh.0) is way funnier than any sitcom.

Seinfeld was pretty great at the time, but the world was a very different place when Seinfeld was on the air. It's been off the air for like 16 years now, and Google wasn't even a thing when it ended.

I don't know what "Impractical Jokers" is, but if you think Tosh.0 is funnier than Seinfeld, your taste in comedy is terrible. That is an objective observation.

Yeah dude. Tosh sucks and it's scripted (the throwback segments). Jumped the shark years ago.
What makes Seinfeld legendary is 1) the characters and 2) the catchphrases and terms still live on many years later. Probably will never be a funnier show.

Be that as it may, on the plus side I have pleasantly been able to avoid all the Seinfeld circle jerks over the years. NTTAWWT. (Hey, that's a Seinfeld joke. See, I'm doing it right, right?)
I think Impractical Jokers is the funniest show on television - regardless of what you tell me should be funny. Expand your horizon, live in the present, and check it out. Tosh.0 HAS jumped the shark, but I would prefer watching a shitty episode of that over Seinfeld.

Just watched the pilot episode. I don't think I've ever seen it before today. Anyway, Jerry hosts a political science professor from Lansing. He met her while doing a show in Michigan. I now assume Bob was a writer for the pilot episode. Maybe GreenWay too since it wasn't that funny.

I always found that cool. Not just the professor being from MSU (or, I suppose LCC), but I figured that to reference that, he'd probably done shows at that Comedy club in Lansing. They'd get some good acts there.

Not sure if Seinfeld was ever at Connxtions, or Larry David for that matter. My wife worked there (one of many bar/restaurant gigs through college). She’d chat up the headliners as they waited at the bar. She said Drew Carey was nice. I was surprised to learn even the no-name comedians who were on the “circuit” we’re pulling in more than $100k, and that was 20+ years ago.

Nah, in one of the shows her boss asks where she grew up and it was somewhere near Baltimore. Elaine was enough of an Orioles fan that she refused to take off her cap even while sitting in Steinbrenner’s box seats.

I remember people saying Seinfeld had been there. Who knows if that was an urban myth, though. But it seemed plausible that he would when he was just a no name on the circuit.

Right, and Frank (Stevens, the owner) did bring in some genuinely solid talent, the no-names who kept the lights on in between the shows with known talent. IIRC, Carlos Mencia was the last comedian to work Connxtions before it closed.

Re: Seinfeld isn't funny
Never heard of Seinfeld and didn't know he had a new TV show. Got into the Tonight Show and he was Johnny's #1 guest. I forget the other guests that afternoon.
Had a good time that day, except for the drive from Carlsbad to Burbank that morning. Left around 7am for what I thought should have been a one and a half hour trip. Took 3½ hours in LA traffic even with the carpool lanes. San Diego traffic can get messy...no where near as bad as LA. No wonder Kobie opted for the helicopter.

Curb is good because Larry is the real George and the rest of the cast is funny, too.

It has some of the most iconic and memorable bits in television comedy. Much of it hasn’t aged well, but it was at the time in a class of its own. So your take is bad.

The thing that was funny is how they tied the weird stuff that occurred during an episode together at the end of the show.Dendrobates wrote:I tried multiple times to get into Seinfeld. It's just not funny.
