Blackwell contract extended
For another month. I get that this whole situation is beyond fucked up but come on.
If there is anyone that needs to go it's Curtis Blackwell.

I get the sentiment given the 'rumors' but this has gotta be legal, right? I'm sure this is just MSU covering their asses and as soon as they can reasonably/legally disengage that will happen.

You really think the cost of silence is a one month extension?
More likely its a result of Ingham County prosecutors office dragging its feet.
The longer this goes on makes me think there are people other than the victim who are wanting to go forward. The alleged assault took place in January and we're days away from April with no charges.
I think and hope Blackwell's trouble stems from failure to follow reporting procedures and not follwing the chain of responsibility. (A player(s) call him with I screwed up story about a girl, too much fun, girl did a 180 after things got started so Blackwell tries to fix things without involving Dantonio).
If MSU doesn't have their i's dotted, t's crossed on a termination document they could see a wrongful termination suit.
So what happens if the reported victim backs out based on evidence the players lawyers uncovered? The 3 players are done at MSU and Blackwell is gone because of reporting violation?

The Blackwell experiment has run it's course.
To me, if there is one no brainer in this entire mess it's to cut ties with Blackwell. If even half of the things I have heard are remotely true, this guy should be no where near this program anymore.

I'd assume this is just to keep paying him in case he gets cleared, and MSU doesn't have to deal with a potential lawsuit from him.

It's probably a combination of an incomplete investigation by the prosecutor's office and/or MSU (and the liability of firing him before those are done), and possibly the idea that he can't/won't comment on the investigation if he's still (technically) employed. I doubt they would want him going public with what he knows (if he was terminated).

If his contact was expiring, how could he have grounds for wrongful termination based on MSU not renewing it?

Lack of DNA evidence is my guess. Muffy since you are so important why don't you reveal and compromise your confidential source AGAIN

Re: Blackwell contract extended
There were rumors of video of the incident.
While what the suspended players allegedly did wasn't socially acceptable (which may fall under the code of conduct umbrella) if there is no DNA or worse for the accuser, the accused produce video that contradicts the accuser's account. That creates problems for the prosecutor's office.
I'm not blaming anyone but its not beyond the realm of possibility.

What the hell does DNA evidence or lack there of have to do with keeping Blackwell?
His contract is expiring, counselor. Just let it expire and be done with him.

You do know that I'm joking right?? Sometimes my attempts at humor land flat. Dude, I just want to take selfies with both of those once great men.
But Blackwell...no.

I'm guessing MSU needs him to cooperate with the investigation. Without a contract he has no obligation to cooperate, unless the DA want to file charges directly against him.
