Under normal circumstances you'd expect to read 'Spicer is going to take a step back to spend more time with his family' but these are not normal fucking circumstances.

But, what was the point? If he (and Trump) is trying to spin that Assad is worse than Hitler, then is the plan to invade Syria?

You are making a mistake assuming they have a strategy or a plan. Apparently, Ivanka convinced Donald that he should bomb Syria which caused him to do a dramatic 180 on his 'policy' towards Syria. No one can predict what this administration will do next in these types of situations.
