Have not toked since before I got married culminating with four kids and a divorce initiated by the cheating kunt.

Youngest is 21 and been into weed for years. Not a stoner and mostly keeps a level head, despite his millennial politics. Was never really into it but we've talked about pot. Mentioned the word "joint" and he laughed at me.

He stopped by a couple weeks ago and gave me a present. A joint packaged in plastic tube. Thing looks like a little baseball bat tapering down to a fucking filter. Told him we'd share it next time he stopped by.

That was supposed to be last night but he ended up taking my other son to the ER for discomfort in his neck he thought related to the carotid artery dissection he suffered a few years ago. MRI came back fine...no problem where the tear happened. Docs told him it was just a muscle issue and to relax a couple days.

Youngest is working tonight. Thinking about lighting up the baseball bat on my own tonight but it's been so long I'm not sure what to expect.

Just don't call 911 to tell them you think you're dying. Also, next time the gift-giving son stops by, thank him for the doobie. He might laugh for days.

The biggest thing that would scare me after 10 years is the paranoia.

I think Pantry had a bad episode with weed, too in regards to paranoia iirc. I think he posted the story before.

Oh, yeah.  It was bad.  Still not sure why it hit me hard while my buddy seemed unaffected.  Maybe I'm allergic to the stuff.  Took years after for even the smell of burning weed to not make me feel nauseous.

Just be careful, Pantry.

Light it up, take a nice hit and put it out. Make sure you have something to pay attention to and wait a good 10-15 minutes (movie, music, tv show, etc).

If you feel confident that you're handling just fine then you can be a little more liberal with it.

When people say they haven't smoked in a long time, my concern would be the strength of what they were smoking before and what was given to you. I envy your lack of tolerance. Us every-other-day and every-day heads wish we could put it down for a year or so to get back to zero baseline.

Besides, say you're content with that one toke (I'm the type of guy that is good with a nice deep toke from a bowl once every hour or two)... you still have an entire joint left to smoke with the gift giver.

Edit: You won't get hurt or anything, obviously. I just don't want you to get uncomfortable and it become a bad experience from what you remember.

Fuck it. If you're by yourself just do it, man. What's the worst that could happen?

Not uncommon and been there. But shit is different from back in our day IMO.  Xsang has some good advice...ease into it... more to ease any paranoia (which I completely get) than any actual you might die reasons.

I was all worried MRI's from 3 years ago weren't going to be good enough and I was coming up with ways to describe the pain to try and coach it a little... and I honestly don't think he read one word on the paper. Took a glance, said "Yup, inflammation is one thing Cannabis excels at treating" and then explained the next part of the process (paperwork) to me and I was gone. 10 minutes in and out. Easiest $160 I've ever seen made and I'm sure he does several per day.

Your kid laughed at the word joint? I don't think that's an uncommon or old dude word for weed, but then again, it's reinforced to me practically every day now that I'm not as young as I feel, so maybe that just means I'm old now too...

Regardless, how much of that joint did you smoke? Looked like about a half gram (0.75 tops), which should be enough for at least 3 smokes for someone who doesn't get high all the time. But I wouldn't blame you for blazing it all at once either.

Just take two or three more good hits for now would be my advice. If you still aren't feeling it 20 minutes after that, smoke the rest.

And in 3 years, the whole month will be 4/20. That's gonna be a good one.
