Fucking sad that MSU won't allow him on campus. Universities are supposed to be about diverse viewpoints and debate and while I don't agree with Spencer he should be afforded the opportunity to speak.

Additionally he shouldn't have to foot the bill to do so. That is just another way to silence free speech.

And to those that say it's too dangerous -that is the heckler's veto and another trampling upon free speech.

If MSU could host George Lincoln Rockwell and the freaking American Nazi Party approximately 20 years after WWII and in front of students who's fathers served (or quite possibly some who served themselves) and professors who served the today's little snowflakes can suck it up and have Spencer on campus.

Today it's these people we don't want to speak - who or what will it be next?

Meh. Its been close to 50 years and trying to talk and rationalize with neo-nazi's hasn't changed anything, then I don't think it ever will. I guess I really don't give a shit after last weekends events. I'm also thinking that they are going to come out and say that the perpetrator of the terrorist event last weekend acted alone. The problem I have with that, is that he bought into the rhetoric enough to act out, and the leaders should have some responsibility in that.

Was the permit just for Spencer to show up (and give a speech like Rockwell)?

Spencer has many avenues for his free speech (which weren't available to Rockwell).

Probably not a fair comparison.

while I support free speech - obviously - there is a difference between free speech and violent, murderous hate speech from a terrorist organization. That's who and what this guy is - and I'm okay with MSU keeping violent hate speech off campus.

I draw the line at murdering people. When the sexual predator's Nazi/white supremacist party murdered someone last week in a terror attack, I think they sort of surrender their cute little "free speech" claims at that point.

As a matter of perspective, I had family members (by marriage) who had tattoos when they were processed into Auschwitz. They were their families only surviviors.
