Old guys: Way back in the early to mid 80's, didn't one of the Tigers' pitchers have a no-hitter going against the White Sox that a pinch-hitter broke up late in the 9th? I think it might have been Jerry Hairston.

I remember that. I think it was Milt Wilcox.

That's who I was thinking, too, but couldn't be sure. Man, I hated Hairston for that.

So, I read the account blaming Asmuss for the placement of players and our right fielder playing 30 ft up from where he should have been placed.   I saw it on channel four news last night.  That hit was a legit hit no matter where our outfielders were placed.   I don't like Asmuss as much as the next guy, but maybe some accounts were way over reacting as to whose fault the break up of the no hitter was.

Castellanos should NOT have been in the game. He's a novice right fielder and his bat was no longer needed in a 12-0 rout. That falls squarely on Ausmus.

Mental reasons? I agree that the hit was legit but you absolutely have to make a defensive sub in that situation. Very poor managing.
