Okay ballers, whiskey--Bushmills or Jameson?
Kind of tired of beer (other than on a football Saturday). So, what's a favorite whiskey? I mentioned a couple, but other suggestions are welcome. I'm looking for something to mix with water and/or ice--that's it.

Bishop: I really enjoy working with young people such as yourself down at our new Lutheran Center... Why don't you drop by sometime, eh?
Danny Noonan: I've often thought of entering the Priesthood.
Bishop: Oh, are you a Roman Catholic?
[Danny nods]
Bishop: Oh, then I'm sorry, but I'm afraid you can't come.

If you are sticking with Irish try Tullamore Dew, way better than both.

Tullamore Dew... also, idiots like to say that Jameson is Catholic and Bushmills is Protestant, but that's untrue. Jameson was made by a Scottish Protestant in Cork and Bushmills is made by Catholics in Northern Ireland.
But ****'em both, drink Tullamore.

That's good to know, I'm not Irish at all. I bought some Bushmills and some lady literally read me the riot act about it.
I will say, I had Bushmills Black Bush and I remember really enjoying it.

Tullamore Dew. Get it in the sweet Granny Clampett XXX jug if you can find it.
I've actually been to Tullamore 3 times and the Jameson & Bushmills distilleries. Love that country.
Is Paddy's available in the U.S. yet?

I second Templeton. Ever since I found a liquor store that sells Lagavulin for $69, I've been drinking that almost exclusively.

No Problem, It is way under valued, you can't find anything close to that for the price.

I agree. You seem expert, what's a good rye? I tried a local made rye and it blew my mind. Thinking of trying a bottle of the bulleit rye next time.

Angel's Envy has a rye that is fantastic, but its nearly $70.
Templeton rye, Russell's Reserve Rye are both very good.
Rittenhouse rye is the best bang for the buck I think at like $25. 100 Proof, good flavor to it. Also comes from the same family as the Elijah Craig line.

"I don't drink Protestant whiskey" - jimmy Mcnulty.
But really, bourbon is your best bet. Some really good bourbons coming out now.
Also someone mentioned angels envy - tried it. Good. Not great.

Angels Envy Rye?
I mentioned the Rye, its a fantastic product. The bourbon is good, both are a bit over priced, but it's hard as hell to find the rye.

Appreciate that. I spend a lot of time in the bars, but I am not a bar tender.

I tried Angels Envy Rye... Damn good stuff.
There's a Brooklyn made one called Widow Jane from the19th St Distillery that I thought was alright but preferred the Angels Envy.

I was just given a bottle of Templeton. Rye whiskey from Iowa corn. What's it like?
PS
Jameson or Tullamore 10 Reserve

Had some Macallan 10 and 18 Friday night. Meh. I would never spend that kind off money on a bottle of booze. Guess I'm more about quantity than quality in that department.

Re: Okay ballers, whiskey--Bushmills or Jameson?
One of the world’s rarest whiskeys has long been exclusively enjoyed by members of a private connoisseurs club called the Whiskey Syndicate, but now you can have a bottle if you know where to look. The Syndicate story dates back to 1958 when a group of six directors at The William Muir Limited company discovered an extraordinary blend of Scotch malt and grain whiskies aging in large oak vats in a warehouse in Edinburgh. After some digging, the directors discovered that the blend (created by Marshall Taplow), was originally distilled in 1954 from a recipe that dates back to the 1800’s.

I went to Boston last weekend for the Sox/Yankees game, and my brother took me on a Irish Pub crawl. What a weekend. Drank lots of Jameson's, but one of the Irish bartenders hooked me up with some Red Breast. Oman, that was goood.
