Detroit Tigers' prospects give glimpse of future at spring training

There, on an unusually warm Wednesday afternoon in February, sat five Tigers prospects: pitchers Franklin Perez, Matt Manning and Beau Burrows, infielder Isaac Paredes, and outfielder Daz Cameron.

Three of them — Perez, Manning and Burrows — are listed among Baseball America's Top 100 prospects. The other two are — at the very least — intriguing.

The Tigers' brass thought enough of the their potential that they brought them to an instructional room for a meet-and-greet with the media who cover the team.

Wednesday's prospect gathering wouldn't have been possible during last year's spring training. Because the Tigers haven't had this many highly regarded players in years.

Though these aren't the only names team president Al Avila is betting on.

Five other potential difference-makers are trying to get noticed, too, including the aforementioned Faedo, the club's other top-100 prospect, catcher Jake Rogers, infielder Dawel Lugo, outfielder Christin Stewart, and pitcher Gregory Soto.

If they can get anything for Iglesias they should, he's really not anything above an average SS.

Depending on the situation I think Casty, Green and Alex Wilson are gone at the deadline.

I hate to see them trade Fulmer but like any player if they can get a massive haul for him - they should.

I think they're going to play to be respectable but in reality take this year to finish pruning the deadwood, take a look at some kids, try to rehab some fringe payers to flip at the deadline. Then start to try and play the kids and develop them next year.
