Anybody ever get night terrors?

Had dinner with one of my college roommates and his wife tonight. Reminded me of how the poor guy used to have night terrors 3-4 times a week. He also used to sleepwalk and talk, too.
One night I woke up and saw him at the foot of my bed, just staring blankly at me.
Another time I was coming back from the bathroom and I heard him talking to me: "Hey you! I see you there! Hey! I see you!
Other times he'd just bolt upright and scream.
I really thought I was going to get stabbed in my sleep that year. Freaked me the f uck out. Anybody ever get night terrors? 502811600

I've died in dreams. Occasionally I'll scream out in my sleep while dreaming. Usually I become aware that I'm dreaming and I try to wake myself up. Not sure if it's night terrors or lucid dreaming that I have. Sometimes if I realize I'm dreaming, like one in which I'm about to drown but then start breathing under water is kind of fun. I don't sleep walk though.

I can't remember where I saw it, but I recently came across an article on lucid dreaming. I'm fascinated by it, and maybe a little jealous. I'd love to be able to control my dreams while they're happening. I'll link it here if I can find it.

If you dream you're falling from a great height and actually hit the ground while you're still dreaming, you'll actually die in real life. I learned about that in junior high.

I subscribed to the Lucid Dreaming sub-Reddit. I've never actually perused it as of yet, but there is an active community of people with various levels of success that are really into it, at least based on the thread titles that I've seen in my feed.

I tried a sidewinder martial arts type leg kick on some asshole in a dream last week. Ended up throwing myself out of bed and standing up immediately because of a severe cramp in my calf. Went to the can in the dark and had to pee standing up

I just read the wiki entry and it says there's a bunch of skeptics; that it just seems like the person is able to control their dreams when in fact they're really at some level of wakefulness. I still think it's a real thing.

Falling towards the ground is fucking terrifying, seeing it come closer and closer, trying to avoid the inevitable. Hitting it is oddly peaceful. It's only happened twice that I know of. Both times I was able to look back and see my broken body. That was a long time ago though.

I've done similar things. A couple of times I was going Dave Rozema on people and ended up scaring the shit out of our dog, who was then just a puppy and sleeping in a crate next to the bed, by karate-kicking her all-metal housing.
One time I nearly throttled my wife on her head when I was in a full pitcher's windup.

Yeah, my now 14 year old and her friends were sitting around a back yard fire with me as I was drinking beer in front of them, and one of them brought up that gem. I asked her how the people knew what the dead guy had been dreaming about. It was an awkward silence for a bit and I could tell my daughter thought I was a dick, so I just went and got another beer and let them out there by themselves.

Worst dream that I ever had happened pretty recently. I was dreaming about an intruder in my house. I walked out of my bedroom and the guy shot me in the head. I immediately woke up and my mind was still thinking that the dream was real. It didn't help that the "shooting" took place right where I was looking when I woke up.

I told the story on the other board a number of years ago, but when I was in 7th grade I had an experience where I woke up in my room completely paralyzed. My eyes worked and I could see three grey aliens walking closer to my bed. I tried to shut my eyes but couldn't. I don't think I've ever been more scared in my life. I know for certain I was awake, and just as they got to the foot of my bed it was over and I was back to sleeping.
I didn't tell anyone about it because people would have thought I was crazy, and then I saw a show on TLC about sleep paralysis, and was able to connect the dots.

Yeah its scary as shit. Like you are awake but your whole body can't move. The scariest part is it seems (at least in my experience) is a dark/black figure is sitting on or hovering above you prohibiting you from moving at all.
