Re: Memorial Day Weekend 2018
2nd outing on tap for the motor home. Taking the kids and grandkids to camp in the woods where my Dad and I camped for 3 deer seasons back in the 1970-73 era. Will be there for the 2nd anniversary of his death, always vowed I'd go back there and camp someday and I guess this is a good time to do it.
Will be able to acquire some fresh cheese from a little cheese plant and Michigan's 2nd best smoked fish.
Anyone else with big plans?

I'm going to a party on Saturday. It might be awkward since my best friend and I joke about the host's husband having sex with their dog quite often. I'm sure they've found out by now. Let's see on Saturday! Stay tuned!

Heading to a party on Saturday, meeting friends for dinner on Sunday. Nothing Monday, unless I visit my dad’s gravesite.

Nah, are they making cheese there again? To my knowledge they haven't for 20+ years.
Little place called Turner Cheese on M65 north of Whittemore. Long ago I used to trade cultures with the guy.

It started with us jokingly talking about the two humans having sex. She's so plain so we figured it'd be boring, so my buddy shouted the dog's name in pleasure instead of the wife's. It became a running joke ever since then.
Definitely toeing the line, probably crossing it. But other people have come out and said they don't like them so the dog sex jokes are funny.
Maybe they do love each other more than animal and human. Who are we to judge true love??

Re: Memorial Day Weekend 2018
All systems are go for excursion #2.
As I was telling my kids about camping there and building my 1st temporary outhouse I saw their eyes begin to glaze.... I realized then that they weren't really very interested in hearing about my questionable achievements from 45 years ago.
We leave in an hour or so when the SiL arrives from work, then OTPT and others will know the sweet bliss of my absence from their lives.
Planning to gig some frogs on opening day Saturday - will post some grilling pics if successful.

Re: Memorial Day Weekend 2018
Everyone heading out, drive carefully.
The awful sunny dry weather we had today has also seen 2 deaths on 131. The northbound accident closed 131 for several hours.
All that on the Thursday as folks left early trying to get a head start.
We're staying close to home. Probably even skip Saugatuck to visit a couple of friends/relative with boats in their slips this weekend because it will be amateur hour.

Jim Brewer does a funny bit about Slayer. Said the only time he feared his own race was at a Slayer concert. Lol.

Having seem Slayer quite a few times over the past 25 or so years, I can't argue that premise...lol.

Re: Memorial Day Weekend 2018
Just realized it’s been 13 years since my dad died. We thought it was fitting he died during memorial weekend. I remember Fort Custard said it was the biggest military funeral they ever had. And many were upset they couldn’t come, because they couldn’t leave Camp Grayling completely empty.

Nordic, it's Slayer's final tour. You'll have one more chance on August 7th at Van Andel. I may pick up some tickets for that one also.

I’m far from a beer snob, but I’m not on board the Oberon train. To each his own. Your tastes may vary.

Re: Memorial Day Weekend 2018
Oberon isn't the same as it was 5ish or so years ago, it just isn't. The older batches were waaay better. Prices on it have gone up as well, a sixer here used to be 8.99, now 10.99. Tons of better beers I can buy for that money now.
PS the 5L can is 22.99, a solid value for the amount of drunk I will get.

I don't disagree. And f-off to anyone that says there is not a difference. In fact, I think the first batch every year is always tastes off.
