I joined a pick em league with some friends this year. I'm 19-11 after week 2. Kinda wish I was actually betting all of these games. I've got to come back to earth sometime though. I'm putting next to no thought into my picks.

Packers Vikings both look like shit. 1-1-1. Bears could lead the division. Lions could be just 1/2 game back.
What has happened to offensive linemen? Have defensive linemen and techniques and training just pass the offensive linemen by?

By the way, at this point we know the officials are just told to watch anything Clay Mathews does. Probably deserved from past asshole moves, but these last two weeks he’s been the poster boy for, “what the fuck?” Calls.

Re: NFL Non-Lions Szn Thread
The NFL has been part of my life since I was 8 years old. The first game I remember was Super Bowl X when the Steelers beat the Cowboys for the first time. My dad was a Steelers fan and passed it down to me. That was over 40 years ago.
My weekends revolved around it.
Then the NFL started tinkering with the rules. And they've kept tinkering.
This latest roughing the passer change (which you know they won't call in the playoffs) may be the straw that broke my back.
I've cut way down. I rarely watch a random game anymore. I'm good for Steelers and usually the Sunday night game. That's it.
It's just not fun to watch and I can't hate watch it. The product may be producing points on the field but it isn't keeping my attention.

I loved the old style of football when you had to establish the run to open up the pass. This bull shit where it evolved into a passing league lost me. Also, whenever Joe Montana played against the NY Giants they’d try to rip his fucking head off. And that tom Brady tuck rule still is the worst call I’ve ever seen. The league pampers these QBs now.
I think the shit that really did it for me was when I couldn’t even tell what a catch was.

Yeah, I've been pretty frustrated with the whole Clay Mathews thing. I know the officials missed the slam of Rodgers yesterday, and that's not a big deal to me, officials can miss plays, I get that. But two weeks in a row, many in the NFL are questioning the calls on Mathews. When I saw Alex Smith question it yesterday, I said screw it, not gonna be frustrated, just gonna be a casual observer and move the heck on. I'm not married to that league, and when a bad call can swing games one way or the other you just kind of say screw it. Why bother?

I hear you. I’ve watched so many lions games though. I’m used to a culture of losing and shrugging things off. I have to say screw it just to maintain my sanity. The lions have also taught me there really is life after football on Sundays.

I can see that. Just the way the scoring system works in the nfl there’s gotta be so many crazy ways to cover or to blow it. I bet you’ve seen some crazy shit happen following the spread.

Re: NFL Non-Lions Szn Thread
I've actually done like a 125 on my NFL gambling. I enjoy it still but I care more about my FF team (which is also gambling). Only my auction league because the stakes are fairly high. I would rather get a W in that league than have a winning card.
Also I only play teasers in NFL now. And it's fun. I find 3/4/5/6 sides/totals I like in the early slate (getting 6 points) and I put in a $20/$25 teaser and then do the same at 4. Sunday and Monday night side + total 6 point teaser. Got killed last night, but at least James White didn't blow up.

You gotta throw a late game onto your teaser slate so that you can have a chance at middling it.

I don't believe in middling, it goes against my all or nothing gambling as entertainment philosophy. Especially when the stakes are low.
