Are top European league teams better than World Cup teams?
Like Man U or whomever. Could they beat a team like Belgium due to being a team vs a thrown together stars from your country team?

Yes, top club teams are much better than national teams. You have to play with the players you're handed with a national team, a club team is put together with a certain playing style in mind.
Take Germany for example. Their entire back line play centerback for their club teams. If they had more natural fullbacks, they'd be a much better team.

The Bayern munchen club team is as good as any national team on earth.

In before Jim points out that Man U are no longer a "top team" in a European league.
In general, I agree that some of the top clubs in Europe would beat the best national teams. However, a big part of that is due to the fact that they practice and play together for 9 months of the year rather than the 3-6 weeks the national teams get together before and during the World Cup.

Exactly. In fact, I'd probably put most teams in the top half of the English Premier League up against anyone at the World Cup for that reason. Maybe the top half from Germany, Italy, and Spain, as well, though I think that those leagues are more top heavy, while the Premier League is deeper. You see the lack of cohesiveness in just about every game in the World Cup. No one has looked dominant. Holland, Germany, Brazil, and Argentina have all looked a bit "meh" in at least half their games, and all very very easily could have been sent home already.Zapp Brannigan wrote:
