Trump suggested that companies manufacturing in China could move to Vietnam (and not be subject to tariffs). I'm confused how that would create jobs in the US and improve our trade deficit.

Sounds easy building and relocating billion-dollar plants from one foreign country to another. Plus, workers in one country are just as good as another, right?

Funny, I've been reading up on this Food, Inc stuff and I wonder who this $15 billion is really for. Most food production in this country is controlled by like 4 massive corporation. I bet the money is going to get routed to them.

It depends on what part of the food chain you are talking about and even then it's not clear but some would argue at the seed level monsanto has a monopoly. I admit I was kind of talking out of my ass but I'm being sincere on the money part. After seeing the carrier deal go down and knowing what a con his charities were until I see that money got to the family farms my guess is he routes it to the corporate farms.

Washington (CNN)The Trump administration will begin paying $14.5 billion to farmers hurt by the US-China trade war by the end of August.

It's the second round of aid the administration will pay out as negotiations with Beijing continue past the one-year mark. Farmers received about $10 billion in aid last year.

The trade situation has "persisted longer than we expected," said Rob Johannson, chief economist at the Department of Agriculture, on a call with reporters.
