Just wow. Also, when Mitchell was on the ground I just knew a Nugget was going to come over and console him.

I love Donovan Mitchell. My favorite non Spartan in the league. But Gary did an amazing job on him down the stretch. Amazing. Deny the ball. He finally got it on the last possession and Gary poked it out from behind. Awesome.

Gary was on the verge of being an All Star a few years ago. Really. He was averaging like 19ppg, was at the magical 40% mark for 3, and was all of the defensive stopper he is today. I'm not sure what happened to him offensively, but he proved tonight that he still has immense value on the defensive end. He also, again, other than Sunday night, has not played in a game since March 11th.

Was impressed with Gary’s defense considering the hip injury. That couldn’t have been easy. He was so athletic in college. That helps.

Both of those calls were far more egregious then the Laimbeer phantom foul. And that was a terrible call.

Re: tOffical 2019-2020 NBA Thread
It’s ended my very brief desire to watch the NBA. I tried this whole week. This league is the most staged league we have next to WWE. I’m done.
Donahgy has a pod cast where he says the front office can manipulate games not by specifically telling a ref he has to make a call but by looking at data and, when the playoffs come assigning specific refs to specific series where they know team “A” will get more calls than team “B”. It’s believable.
Greatest athletes in the world can be manipulated. Day Day getting suspended and Lebron bringing Cleveland a trophy. Pretty neat story.

If this game is fixed, all calls down the stretch should go Houston's way. Let's see.

Not what Donaghy claimed. He claimed nba office can easily crunch numbers of which refs made calls against which teams. Put a value on when and how often refs were making calls against or for certain teams. Assign refs values to each team in the NBA. Even the assigned ref might not know they have a bias towards a certain team or against a certain team. But front office had these values. Maybe it works maybe it doesn’t. But he claims it happens.
So if ref A has a negative value in regards to Houston and front office wants a seven game series they Houston is up 3-1 they assign refs to the Houston game who have a negative value. Mind you, the refs themselves don’t realize it.
Meh, tinfoil hat, but interesting.

Players on the bench wearing a mask.
Players on the court wearing no mask. Makes no sense.

Yeah. Some of the coaches wear them too. I guess you could argue that some of the non essential personnel in the arena (floor wipers etc) aren't confined to the bubble and they're closer to the bench players? Regardless, whatever they're doing is working very well so I'm not gonna knock it. Love that family are now in the bubble.

I took it as some kind of a PSA to promote masks which is good. I’m out of the loop but might be cool to see a half time segment on how the bubble works. I’m genuinely fascinated.

Also I agree it’s very well done. Tip of the cap to the nba. The US Open looks very safe but it’s a huge failure they couldn’t draw in some of the top players.

Lebron with the stuff. He’s had two high light reel plays on Westbrook.

One other observation reffing is a tough job. You have to think the ego feels rewarded when they make a call that favors the home team and the crowd cheers. There’s a reason there is the whistle the here and there the home team will get a questionable call or the benefit of the doubt. There’s something more pure about this.

Another unbelievable game. I'm rooting for the bucks but I don't think they have a full comeback in them. I'm beginning to subscribe to the lazy but true narrative that they don't know how to run offense in a half court set. Especially with Gianni's on the floor. No typo.
