some horrid stuff going around in the greater East Lansing area.

I've been mainly healthy but developed this deep cough the last day or two. Still went out running this morning - probably ill-advised move on my behalf - but what else was I supposed to do?

My wife was sick a few weeks back. Apparently the kid has been under the weather, too.

I dropped a corn dog behind my bed, I’m not sure probably a few weeks ago, and ate it yesterday and let me tell you that wasn’t a great idea. The good news is that the food keeps coming up so I can put more down after, since I’ve been dieting a little lately.

I've been doing okay until yesterday.

Currently drinking a 24 oz can of PBR.. that should help.

Been sick since last week Tuesday. I think it's now a sinus infection. Hubby is sick with it now, and he never gets sick.
Surprisingly, the kid has just had a runny nose.

I run almost 30 miles a week, I walk the golf course with my bag and pull cart and I play some tennis. Working back to do 50 push-ups a day. I can do about 30 as of now.

Dont' know Wake's contract, but "standard" is 10 per year. Most are called "Personal" days and you don't need to tell them why you're not coming in. If you don't take them, they usually roll over. I think I retired with about 100 or so. Used to get paid about the cost of a sub per day when you left with them, a bit less. 80-90 bucks per day. Lately, contracts are capping the amount you can cash in, and many districts are using some formula for payoffs.

My district is great. 12 sick days per year with 3 additional "personal" days which can be used for any reason. I'm taking one on the Friday of the Big Ten Tournament and my admin said it's a great idea.

I have to go online to create the absence, and the website is linked to the sub database. Finds a sub for me. Super easy. Sick days rollover every year and are capped at 115. The district will pay $50 per day upon retirement.

Another cool thing is that we can donate our sick days to a "sick bank" which other staff members can use. A co worker needed to spend time with a sick family member and we were able to cover those days for them. Like I said, awesome district.

Been sleeping most of today. Had to walk the dog and by a quarter of the way in I was in the mood to lie down and sleep on someone’s front yard. Cut the walk way short of the usual length. I feel like a boneless chicken. And yes, for the humor impaired (KL, for example), that’s a line paraphrased from a Gary Larson/The Far Side comic.
