WASHINGTON — The Trump administration on Thursday will finalize a rule to strip away environmental protections for streams, wetlands and other water bodies, handing a victory to farmers, fossil fuel producers and real estate developers who said Obama-era rules had shackled them with onerous and unnecessary burdens.

From Day 1 of his administration, President Trump vowed to repeal President Barack Obama’s “Waters of the United States” regulation, which had frustrated rural landowners. His new rule, which will be implemented in the coming weeks, is the latest step in the Trump administration’s push to repeal or weaken nearly 100 environmental rules and laws, loosening or eliminating rules on climate change, clean air, chemical pollution, coal mining, oil drilling and endangered species protections.

Trees can explode during a fire. Not just randomly when everything’s normal, but like everything this idiot says there’s a tiny nugget of truth in it.

The thing I would like the Democrats to do is admit that expansion of population into wild lands had a lot to do with how devastating these fires are. Yes, climate change is causing fires to become more frequent and more intense, but we have to acknowledge that something needs to be done about sprawl and the role it plays in the devastation. So far he’s just saying it’s climate change, like this is a tragedy of the commons thing and these poor folks who are losing their towns aren’t willfully moving into areas that are prone to burn in the first place. I’m not blaming them (much) because in many cases, it’s all they can afford.

Hell, insurance companies pulled out of these fire prone areas after 2018 and just said fuck it it’s not worth it at any premium, but CA put an emergency stop on that and guess what? People are rebuilding. It’s unsustainable.
