What's good in Harrison, MI?
My cleaning lady is retiring to her cottage up there, she has been with us for 14 years. We need to get her something and I'm unfamiliar with the area. Good restaurants, etc. Anyone?

Isn't that where that strip club is that would have the billboards along 127?
Oh wait, you asked what's good there.

It's pretty off grid. Great place to bury a body. Very redneck. Maybe some BBQ tools?

Give her some seed money to start up a bus tour to Falwell, roughly 20 miles from Harrison, and scene of one of the grisliest mass murders in Michigan’s history. If there’s any cemeteries between the two, she can tour those as well.

I thought that rang a bell but when you said it was Falwell it threw me.

At first I thought it actually was Harrison, but once I found the story and it said Farwell, I remembered the name.

First of all, it’s where up north starts.
Go into Clare. You ain’t finding any fancy restaurant. But Ruckle’s pier eats well. Is your cleaning lady Amish?
I think they used to have a pretty cool Amish store up there. Maybe right in Harrison.

She is German. How far away is Clare? I'm not sure if she's a gambler or not.

Maybe, I dont remember the name. But apparently I associate it with Harrison. Some buddies and I stopped their once back in the 90s. Yikes. That was one time too many.

It’s been 20+ years, but the Btown Tavern had much better than typical bar food.

Gift card to Cops & Doughnuts. We Germans tend to appreciate fat-laden bready foods with a large helping of order.

Maybe get her some cleaning supplies so she doesn't feel lost when she wakes up every morning with nothing to do but clean her own home.

There's nothing there, just rural area.
I remember driving past the strip club, and the sign outside said.... welcome high school graduates. Apply inside.

There’s someone I know with a pretty nice bird tattoo on her thigh. Can’t remember the bird, but it looked good and was fairly large. She finally admitted to getting the ink so that it covered up all the scars from cutting herself when she was younger.

Sounds like the type of town where you’d find Michiganders with confederate flag merchandise.

If you fish there’s Budd Lake. A large lake on the east side of Harrison and Long Lake that’s about 15 miles north. Long Lake is still a good pike lake.
If you are wanting to see autumn colors or just loaf Harrison doesn’t make my short list for “Up North”

Re: What's good in Harrison, MI?
according to my research, it's a 77.2 mile trip from Harrison to Mio.
In a little over and hour, she could treat herself to chicken fried steak at the Mio Nip-N-Sip, get her hair styled at the Mio Curl-N-Chat and swing by the Mio Farm-N-Feed for a celebratory wreath commemorating the fall harvest.
(there is a christian bookstore in the back of the Farm-N-Feed, FYI).
That's a full day.. I hope she enjoys it as much as my family and I do.

It's Farwell. Are you even from Michigan? There is a company there that makes tackling sleds, chutes, and other equipment for football training and practice. Maybe you're confusing it with Falmouth, which is northwest of Harrison. Farwell is Spur Theory country.

I’ve compartmentalized my Dana Plato crush because of her drug overdose death.
