1 in 5 electric vehicle owners in California switched back to gas
In roughly three minutes, you can fill the gas tank of a Ford Mustang and have enough range to go about 300 miles with its V8 engine.
But for the electric Mustang Mach-E, an hour plugged into a household outlet gave Bloomberg automotive analyst Kevin Tynan just three miles of range.

Give it time. The internal combustion engine is become more and more obsolete with every passing day.

How ironic that the biggest complaint about owning an electric vehicle is also the biggest warning before buying an electric vehicle...

Lol I was thinking the same thing. It's like buying a refrigerator that runs on electric when you own an off grid cabin run on propane. Secondly a view any study funded by the deparemt of transportation within the last few years with a leery eye.

Yep.
Saying 1 out of 5 totally ignores the much more powerful 4 out of 5. It worked for Dentyne sugarless gum for decades, and that fifth dentist is beginning to cave.

Yep, Tesla and Edison didn’t care about contracts Rockefeller had selling oil to cities for kerosene lamps in buildings. Some, then more, then more were lit by AC or DC and that snowball never stopped rolling down hill.
All that’s left is for big oil to tell us how mining for shit for batteries is going to ruin the world. Not like their oil spills and combustion did but this will be a new form of hell.

Seems like residences will eventually need to be upgraded to 3 phase power for more efficient at-home charging.
gm is going balls out on EV's. They recently cancelled part of order at our place. Equipment/tooling cancelled was for assembly/dressout of combustion engine/transmission packages. They won't be getting much back because it's already in steel.

Fuel Cells are what we should be investing in. Fast refills like gasoline and, if green hydrogen, has no emissions. Excess energy from power plants at off-peak times, can be used to create hydrogen to improve the efficiency of our exisitng power plants. Batteries are not as effective as PEMFC can be. I think (maybe hope is the better word) these battery EVs are temporary until we get the hydrogen infrastructure set up in the coming decade or two.

Keep on barking at the moon Pantry.
All electrics for the masses are coming from Toyota, GM, Ford, VW, Honda. There will be some gas but that core Luddite who are often the loudest will find their next topic of outrage.
Wasn’t that long ago nobody was going to change from incandescent bulbs to LED’s. Manufacturing costs of standard A lamps LED replacements dropped and companies got rid of their incandescent machinery.
Tesla the car company is a niche company. My sibling in NoCal says every time a Tesla quits/dies in traffic a specially equipped tow vehicle is required and 2 hour waits aren’t uncommon.
2nd/3rd/4th generation electrics will improve.

It’s quicker off the line than a Shelby GT350 and almost as fast as a GT500. It’s the quickest stock Mustang Ford has ever produced.
Top end speed, which 99.9% of all drivers will never get close to is a different story.

And? It's like a crossover not a Mustang. Just call it something else instead of shatting on the name.
GM should bring back a minivan and call it a corvette to increase sales

Not sure, but on a Tesla you can tell it to "open butthole" when you want access to the charging port.

My parents always bought GM, except for a manual '75 Mustang II hatchback. They went up to the Keweenaw for a long weekend and left me home with the thing, figuring I didn't know how to drive a stick. I learned how that weekend.Motown Spartan wrote:kingstonlake wrote:In 1974 the Mustang II was Motor Trends car of the year.

Firefighters: Electric vehicle fires present new challenges
4,500 gallons of water needed to put out car battery fire
Quoted a job for an EV battery plant a month ago. Each power pack is made up of many individual battery cells maybe ½" x 16" x 30". They test each of the cells. The quote was mostly for the cell scrap room, way off in the corner of the plant with doors to close it off. They didn't come out and say the amount of predicted scrap cells in the RFQ, but judging from the equipment they asked to be quoted the number is quite high. The really bad ones (leakers) are to get stuffed in steel drums filled with vermiculite, a substance they've determined to be non-reactive for their purposes. Prior to the quote, my only knowledge of vermiculite was for gardening purposes. Learn something new every day.
They made no mention of where the drums of leakers would get shipped for disposal.
