Its a cute distraction and really doesn't tell you much or give a true gauge of where the players are.

If you think of it, this would be the cakiest job... there are only like 2-4 per year. Not like juggling 20-30 for football.

With that few recruits each year, one and done (see Christie) the transfer portal looming, the margin for error for mens basketball is much smaller compared to football recruiting.

Being a Friend of Matt doesn't hurt but Izzo doesn't have any "cake jobs" staff positions available. According to some acquaintances who have been MAC and A10 assistants who would have liked to work for Izzo, he only expects his staff to work as hard as he does.
