This has been a really fascinating trial.

1. Anyone who brings an AR-15 to a riot is an idiot.

2. The prosecution has been impressively incompetent.

3. The media has been really scary in their partisan takes.

Pretty low threshold to find him innocent. "Felt threatened". I get it, he had the right to be there, we have guns in America where you can just carry them around. If you bring a gun to a protest 45 minutes away in another state...cosplay a SWAT team member...shoot three people....it's not your fault. But if a woman goes in public with exposed skin and is assaulted, it's kind of her fault. That's some twisted messaging from the GOP.

Interesting views on two different events.

Alex Baldwin shoots and kills a member of the production crew with a prop pistol that was loaded with a live round on a movie set.

Groups are calling for Baldwin’s arrest and a murder charge.

An untrained, uninvited 17 year old from Antioch IL brings his loaded semi-automatic “hunting rifle” to Kenosha WI to walk the streets allegedly “assisting law enforcement” shoot 3 people (killing 2) after he was confronted by people he testified were threatening him.

Some of the same groups wanting to charge actor Baldwin want the 17 year old self-appointed vigilante acquitted.

As a country we are in deep shit.

Technically, if the law allows someone to kill another person because the first person is afraid then the problem is the law.

As for the actor being charged. he was the final error in a chain of events. It is hard to see his culpability when there were so many mistakes made before he pulled the trigger.

Certainly he had no intent, unlike the kid with a rifle.

Manslaughter would be a fairer indictment.

Well, reading about why he did that, because an independent contractor who sometimes sells stuff to NBC (not MSNBC) got a ticket for going through a red light, the logic seems to be missing from the ruling.

Courts sometimes muzzle the press during trials, so the press reports that they cannot report due to a judicial order.

Reading the AP story the logic for banning MSNBC is not there.

First, MSNBC and NBC are different reporting structures which do not overlap.

The Freelancer who, by the way was following the judge's orders, was working for their self, not executing something that NBC (MSNBC really doesn't come into the picture here, as they are a different organization) wanted. He said he had no intention of violating the court orders, what ever he was doing.

So we have an independent contractor, not violating or ever intending to violate the court orders, running a red light, in order to gather something to sell to NBC, which NBC had not requested, which has nothing at all to do with MSNBC.

Seems like the judge made a mistake, probably thinks MSNBC & NBC are the same, which they are not, and is assuming that the freelance investigator was planning to do something he wasn't planning to do.

Seems like a cluster on the judge's part, unless there is way more to this story that isn't being reported.

Well, there is an interesting case going on in Georgia right now. You might not be aware because America covered it for a couple of days before largely dropping it to cover the trial where the victims and defendants are all white. I am sure they will get back to it if it does not get in the way of the airtime needed to analyze this outcome.

Obviously, its always regrettable when a life is lost, but this was the correct verdict.

The kid is still a piece of **** for going there armed, as is everyone else that escalated the situation. But he was clean from a legal standpoint.

heck, at this point, athletes taking knee should really consider the audience. That's the worst part about this, beyond two people being murdered at the hands of an insecure white supremacist. Depends on how you define reasonable threat. Some are very cut and dry.

However people tend to look at African Americans as more threatening. Tucker Carlson defined Trevon Martin and Rittenhouse very differently despite them being the same age.
