Comprehensive research on the effects of term limits from Wayne State University research suggests that term limits have had the opposite effect.

Sarbaugh-Thompson spent 13 years in her role as a political science professor at Wayne State researching how term limits have changed the effectiveness of the state’s Legislature. She argues that term limits in Michigan have failed, largely due to newcomers’ lack of knowledge and ability to spend time policymaking.

Really need to just eliminate term limits, but not a popular position because people have been lying about what works for political advantage.

The original law was designed by Republicans so they could take over the state.

The approved legislative resolution would allow lawmakers to serve up to a total 12 years, regardless of which chamber they are in.
