Perhaps he will pay for body armor and military rapid fire handguns for all the teachers and school staff in Texas.

The real solution, the elimination of most guns in the State, isn't considered.

14 (reportedly 18 now) children woke up this morning.

They complained about the alarm. Ate Pop-Tarts.. threw on jeans, leggings.. maybe hugged siblings. Told their parents "see you after school". Planned for soccer practice, baseball practice. Piano. Dance. Maybe watching a younger sibilng as their parent worked.

America is okay with children being murdered in school. It's who we are.

The important thing is to not allow the 'pro-life' ideologues tell you different. They whimper. They whine. Then they celebrate guns.

No doubt some of those same people will eventually show up in this thread justifying the shooter. Blaming whatever entity it is that helps them sleep at night in order to promote their twisted agenda.

See them for who they are. It's not 'political differences'. It's not patriotism, or the Constitution. It's their reckless disregard for human life, no matter how they insist and attempt to distract otherwise.

Shut off the mainstream media. They need this as much as the 'pro-life' political extremists do. Ratings are everything to them.

Engage with decency. Lean into those who share the same thirst for life. Speak to friends, neighbors. Look at children at the park, at the store, at restaurants.  Know that it will eventually be them. Act, react and engage accordingly.

I get where you are coming from here but that's not really how the national psyche works, in my humble opinion.

Steve bannon famously directed the entire trump strategy pre-election and during his presidency.  He left, but the strategy didn't.  And it worked.

His strategy:  Flood the field with shit.

Literally, that's it.  Flood the field with shit and any attacks are rendered ineffective. You get more of what you want by doing that, you are diluting the media, the effectiveness of any attacks, and numbing the nation.  Look at today, we have a "heads up" that abortion protections are about to be axed and nobody seems to give a crap.  Some people are protesting outside the justices' homes but be honest - is the response really what you thought it should be given the importance of the issue?  We've been subdued.  Burnt out.  I believe the same could be said for "carnage".  The country has been flooded with shit for years now and none of it matters.  The carnage may not move the needle in the way that you want, but it can be used in other strategies.

We have minorities in this country that go to extreme lengths to retain and enhance their power.  Even going as far as to steal  rightful scotus picks and prevent hundreds of judges from being appointed just because they could.  We have minorities in this country willing to do almost anything to retain power.  That's a problem.  A problem we won't fix by flooding with carnage, in fact it might play into their hands with the strategies they employ.

I don't know what the answer is but I'm leaning more and more towards playing dirty for the good of the nation.  Right now the only thing that really matters is the acquisition of ability and power.  The democratic strategy of using mass media and throwing money to win over people and issues is not working.  You need to Fight fire with fire, you can employ the same strategies they use against them and maybe come to a stalemate instead of them gaining inches on us constantly.  The problem is they have a head start.  figure out a way to get that court packed, figure out a way to swing votes in some of these southern states (hello immigration incentives), need to pick off a few more senator seats to do anything of value.  They would not hesitate if their backs were against the wall.  The opposition is willing to do literally anything and Trump has shown them that they can get away with anything if you employ the right strategies.  It's only going to get worse from here on out. if you don't match them step for step, then they will gain their inches and they will further entrench themselves in power positions that can't be budged, all this and still being a minority opinion in this country.

I just read that the teacher killed was a special needs teacher.  If the 18 dead children all had special needs,  even if they didn't,  this is just horrible.  Something has to be done.  19 children... the news just updated to 19...

Any member of the house or senate who has a campaign add holding a firearm needs to be removed. I own guns but I’ve never once felt the need to take a picture of me holding it for America to see. It sends a direct message to the low hanging fruit. They know who they’re appealing too.

yep - the mainstream media is complicit. They need this as much as the GOP and NRA do.

While I detest Ted Cruz, Rick Scott and other of their ilk who are loyal to the NRA under the LaPierre leadership, I don’t live in either TX or FL.  They are faces of evil in my opinion.

What I can do is not vote for NRA lackeys and donate to campaigns of individuals who support;  background checks before you can purchase a gun; register the gun at every sale, not just the initial purchase; make penalties for people whose guns are used in crimes and not reported as stolen.

Fewer guns floating around to unstable individuals who can buy them damned near anywhere from anybody shouldn’t threaten anyone’s “freedom”.

So long as it isn’t their children or grandchildren being murdered, Ted Cruz, Rick Scott, Thom Tillis and pols will continue care more NRA money than other’s loved ones.
