Sander's political manager has said that Sanders will not run if Biden runs.

"In the event of an open 2024 Democratic presidential primary, Sen. Sanders has not ruled out another run for president, so we advise that you answer any questions about 2024 with that in mind."

It’s way way way too early for that nonsense. There are campaign finance laws that would make announcing this soon a very bad idea.

You’re aware that Biden has run for President more than Bernie Sanders, right?

Technically if you want to count 2012 as a VP candidate, he’s run twice as much as Sanders.

You don’t have to officially announce to be seen as a candidate. DeSantis is considered as possibly running, as is Trump. Dems need to start hitting the speech circuit fairly soon if they want the name recognition to run.

They’ll be fine. I think you’re underestimating how far away all of this still is. Also those other people don’t have a current incumbent that they would be viewed as undercutting if they do too much too soon.

Let’s not lose sight of the fact that Biden’s victory in 2020 was more an endorsement of who he wasn’t, not who he was. What you do with that opportunity is important. Rarely is that gift available.

Yeah, it’s early yet, but at this point I don’t think Joe runs for a second term. IMO, nobody at or close to his age should be running the country, so I’d blackball Trump and Bernie, too.
On the ‘pub side, add the names DeSantis, Abbott, and Haley along with Trump.
The Dems really are at a disadvantage even while holding the WH. Assuming he decides against Term2, the moment Biden makes that announcement, any hope for getting anything at all out of his agenda will be doa, although we know it’s in tatters already. Congress doesn’t work with a lame duck. Gavin Newsom is already spending time on the road outside of his home state. He even had a tv spot run in Florida with a message of “If you’re sick of DeSantis, move to California.” A move like that is a shot across the bow and gets him all kinds of attention. Beyond Newsom, though, I think other Ds are waiting out word from Joe.
