Your Christmas dinner plans

Gave the kids their choice of anything they wanted as an entree. Sorta blew my mind they settled on chili. Maybe an indicator of thoughts leading up to what might be a snowy weekend.

I'm geeked! Haven't made in a while. The base recipe and method are solid. Results are never exactly the same but always good. Shopping fresh peppers tomorrow. Gonna throw in some pecan-smoked turkey breast from the freezer.

I have no idea, not going home this year so probably will hit the slopes and ski in the morning. Maybe something in the crockpot is a good idea - like chili. Did i just realize chili only has one L? Woah.

Shepherd's Pie will be the main. But with ground turkey instead of lamb or beef (Cottage Pie), which I call Gobbler's Pie.

I just did a crab and shrimp Bisque in the crockpot, took four hours of cook in the crockpot, but it was damn good. I will look for the recipe and post it here.

I think her family... the siblings are doing an appetizer challenge. So 5-6 appetizers will be the meal. Should be good. since it's siblings competing.

Then my family, the wife is making prime rib.

I have a silly amount of ham in my fridge right now and the two events I was hosting are now delayed due to the weather. My wifes dads family was to come over tomorrow. Have a 4.5 lb ham for them. That’s rescheduled to tbd now. My family was to come over Saturday, 8.5 lb ham for them, that’s now rescheduled to Monday. To make the ham matters worse, a neighbor found out we had a baby and got us… a ham. 4 lb I think. These are all honey baked so they’re good but still fuck me. So much ham.

As for Christmas Day we’re going to hang with some cousins so I have no idea what we’re having.

Well, the big dinner in these parts is Christmas Eve, nochebuena. I'm assuming my MIL will make her delicious roast beef. And then Christmas Day is just leftovers.

The wife is stuck in Missouri due to the storm, the family has cancelled the big Christmas Eve get together due to same. I've got two bottles of Jefferson's Reserve and some NY strips that are looking likely unless snowmageddon blocks passage way to my grill. There's a small part of me that thinks this is going to be kind of nice. Is that bad?

I’m staying in Denver with just a sibling and it feels kind of nice to have pretty much nothing on the agenda. Im sure it’ll hit me at times not to be around everyone but next year

Bought all I need for making chili this morning....ground round, pork, lamb and a shit load of peppers...habanero, jalapeno, anaheim, banana, hungarian, poblano, serrano.
