Re: tOfficial 2023 Spartan Football Thread
so.. do we have a quarterback controversy?
FTR, I'm all for giving Hauser a shot to start. Kim has had some moments here and there, but I haven't seen a ton of consistency or improvement. Hauser came in late vs Washington and drove down against the Huskies walk-on's and student managers, so I'm not putting a ton of credence into that drive.
I did like the way he was moving the ball Saturday. The interception, obviously, was pretty crucial, deep in Maryland territory when, had we put up a TD, it would've been 21-16. But prior to that, I did like the way he moved the ball. Also, from the comfort of my couch, it looked like the offense on the field responded well, seemed energized, etc.
also, for what it's worth, I do believe Hauser has more long term skills/potential and if home slice doesn't get a starting job, he's hitting the portal. Hell, he might be hitting the portal anyway - but it's a thought worth considering.

Pretty much this. Kim has some skills. Throws a pretty ball when it is accurate, decent wheels... but his consistency has been turrible the last two games. He looked nervous vs. Wash. Getting drilled early on didn't help. Side note, he is listed at 6-2. Based on the past two player walks, there is no fucking way. 6-0 max.
All that said there is obv a reason Hauser hasn't seen earlier snaps in any of our contests. Seems pretty obv he is not ready. But at this point, fuck it, floor it, learn on the job.

Kim is being punished with inaccurate passes because Jesus is mad he didn’t get a bigger cross tattoo.

Who is going to portal up first?

Because Tucker was fired midseason, Spartans football players now have a 30-day window to enter the transfer portal. According to NCAA rules, players have the opportunity to enter the transfer portal if their coach is fired as a season is ongoing. They then are allowed to have contact with coaches for potential future roster spots for 30 days. Michigan State has also already lost numerous high school commitments.

One good thing in the mega B1G is that the west coast teams, and more importantly the media, are going to want the sexy names, aka UofM, OSU & Penn State, meaning that MSU gets to play more of the older core B1G teams.

It’s also why uofm is very good this year I believe. At least that is what the talking heads have said. They must have an “old” roster.

Get an extra year of development, especially for the big uglies. MSU's cycle for those was off by a year.
