One angle that makes me think the Meyer smoke has a small flame is that I haven’t heard a single leak or reference to any of these “insiders” saying anything about any other potential coach.

On the flip side the idea that people on the Comparoni website know more about the hiring process than any of the beat reporters is revealing. And we all saw how reliable they were during the Luke Fickell saga.

My hope is Haller is letting people run with the Urban rumors to give him/the committee a smokescreen to evaluate and allow back channels to start discussions. If he extinguished those rumors, then people would demand more transparency and potentially corrupt the process he wants. If it ends up being Meyer, well than good I guess, but I don't see him have the level of success he is use to and the fans would demand.

Reality plays well during actor’s strikes but it’s never popular on message boards.

Urban Meyer’s FoxSports salary is in the range of $6M-$7M/per season. That’s with having to do about 26 weeks for prep, travel and regular season, championship week and bowl season on camera work.

No recruiting, no spring practice, and fall that begins in July for coaching staffs. Good gig for a guy who’ll be 60 next year.

Well said. Perhaps my biggest issue with the Urbz or bust crowd ( aside from them believing what every blogger posts) is none of them will even consider it may not work. Let a lone the possibility it could end in spectacular failure. They just think throw a bunch of money at him, get out of the way and start winning nattys.
