Official Swill Decennial Thread
Figure it’s time to start a thread since we’re getting closer to the big day. Our little boy was born on April 15, 2014 and he’s getting to be such a rapscallion.
Here we can make our plans for the decennial celebration, reflect on posters lost, posters gained, epic threads, favorite slap fights, giant weirdos, and all the rest.
Let me start by congratulating our 4 remaining 4/15ers, those that joined up on day 1 and have nary missed a day since. Big round of applause to Bob, Floyd, Heat, and Travis.

I’m only here because Bob sent me a PM on 247. So blame him. I bet he regrets that message. I didn’t know it existed the few weeks or so.

I think swill years are like 3 human years, so our boy can throw some back with us this April. Or am I thinking dog years?

Re: Official Swill Decennial Thread
I joined originally because of Bob, but then lost the email address I joined up with, provider went out of business, and didn't want to create a second ID so didn't until 247 shut down Wells...
Most of you still seem like kids to me, not Duffy, BTW...
Looks like I missed the golden years, though, with a few of the people who were on TOB back in the 1990's who were there, and then here, when I joined that one in 96.

I almost said that our boy has now grown up and is a raving slut but 10 years old made that sound pretty creepyDWags wrote:I think swill years are like 3 human years, so our boy can throw some back with us this April. Or am I thinking dog years?

Tried but wasn't able to join until the 16th.
Would be cool if the decennial was April 8. Gonna be pretty eclipsy that day. Still have a pair of glasses from 2017.

Floyd is to blame for poisoning the well with an invite to me. I love him, despite how the rest of you curse his existence.

Who was the biggest nut job poster? I don’t mean “haha tanfan is nuts” I mean full on this dude is whacked out of his mind
1) antiplastoons (maybe like 2018 or so) wild conspiracy theorist, we’re talking like flat earth, 9/11 was an inside job, more wild shit than that.
2) dadsmanboobs (2020-2023, sparingly) mostly posted on the Bob board for some reason. Over the top religious whacko. Pretty much either believe the rapture is upon us or would gladly bring it upon us if he could.

I think SRC or Heat slid into my DMs on TOB about this, but I didn't see it until the 16th.
Good times. Fuck, I can't believe this place has been around for 10 years, though. And it really freaks me out that I've been posting on internet forums for almost 30 years. That's a lot of time that I could have wasted being productive.

Antiplastons for sure. Flat Earth was almost one of his more sane takes. He was all in on the secret illuminati cabal, in conjunction with Satanists and the Vatican, controlling everything that happens in the world. Every bad thing that ever happened didn't really happen, it was just staged with crisis actors. That's how he coped with the idea that bad things can happen.Travis of the Cosmos wrote:Who was the biggest nut job poster? He really believed it all, too. I spent a lot of time going back and forth with him. It was interesting and kind of fun to counter point him. Then, as he got more bold, he started to talk some serious racist and anti-semitic shit, and he rightfully got booted.
That was before most of us had ever even heard about Qanon.

Re: Official Swill Decennial Thread
One of the weirdest poster behavior was the short-lived membership of RP McMurphy/Rashomon/Go disc golf. I forget which name he used here. On tRCMB, he was obsessed with his and other posters' star ratings. Always was trying to use that to justify or denigrate opinions. One of those guys that it seemed would hit downvote on a post, then sit back and smile as if he had really told that person off.
So he comes here and goes absolutely crazy trying to figure out the +/- up vote/down vote system. And that was before forumotion put the Like/You Suck buttons. He would ask about how to vote posts and got so frustrated about it that he finally stormed off and quit.

He makes up for that by being the nicest poster on the boards.
I followed him over here when he was banned from TOB.

So 10 years... Greenway throwing a party? Bob inviting us all on a trail run? Miami and Inten taking us out on their "miami vice" south florida drug dealer boat?

We’re just a little over a month out from the big day.
I need your submissions for a big award- the thread of the decade. That’s a big ask. Take some time, think about it, discuss it with your loved ones, and come back to me with your suggestions.
Greenway don’t do it. I know. We all know. Don’t do it.

I believe after many failed attempts, the compartmentalization of this thread should be in strong consideration.

I'm inconsistent in posting, but I'm glad I made my way back. You clowns make me feel connected to the MSU community again. It's always fun to sometimes see screen names that I remember from the early days of the other board, but I'm glad we made this our home. Passes the vibe check much better. Thanks for the laughs and the enlightened conversation, boys.

Re: Official Swill Decennial Thread
The diversity of people on this board, in my opinion,, is fantastic.
I’ve PM’d a couple over the years to help me out with things from plumbing to finance. Not taking their word completely, but definitely listening to their advice.
I wish we could attract more female opinions to our board, but I don’t know how you do that . Dendro is great, when I met her and her husband and my Tailgate , she is totally the type of person that could sit around with guys drink a beer and not be bothered if one of them farted.
My oldest daughter is so MSU . And she can talk offensive and defensive starters with you, and I know she could talk defensive formations with you. But I’d be horrified if she ever came on this board so never the twain shall meet.
On a serious note. Ion January of 2020 I was making my wife a cup of coffee before she went to work and we have the small TV in our kitchen like many people do and it showed China bulldozing the whole town. So when she left for work, I jokingly went to the computer and said., “ coronavirus, we gone?”
But in the first half year or so of that thread, I got more information and my nerves, were settled more by the people on this board than anything I saw on TV.
I’m just grateful that we have an MSU board that isn’t like the other one So much easier to navigate and enjoy this
