I thought defense and smarter play was going to be emphasized more with this coaching staff. It's really tough to keep watching the Tigers every game, because it seems like it's the same painful display or sloppy play and limp offense more often than not.

I do think the overall infield defense is better at 3 positions, and Nick C. is probably the equivalent of Miggy last year at 3rd.

The outfield without Jackson starts either 3 guys who have always been below average fielders and/or Hunter who range is now reminiscent of Magglio's later years.

This team needs to score 4 runs to have a decent chance at victory.

They have scored 3 or fewer in 49 games and have an 8-41 record in those games.

They have scored 2 or fewer in 38 games.

Last year for the entire season they scored 2 or fewer 39 times.

Dig deep all you want but Cabby has been very pedestrian all year with the exception of May. Career or near career low power numbers in all categories.

He's been recovering from that core surgery. I don't think he'll be 100% healthy until Opening Day 2015.

I agree with just about everything, if Nick C. wasn't so prone to errors I'd have him above Miggy at 3rd.

I think bottom line we lost a lot last year at offense. I know everyone dogged Prince Fielder for his playoff performances and I agree 100% that dumping him was absolutely the right move especially given his season ending injury, but his 100+ RBIs and 30+ homeruns during the regular season were nothing to sneeze at.

Also, I know Austin was a streaky hitter but Carrera is not better. We lost some D and offense there imo.
