That's my take on things. I'm not a tailgater and I'm not sure these things can be forced, I think they evolve naturally when enough people think a get together would be fun. I just think the sniping doesn't accomplish anything and makes volunteers want to quit.

Agreed. I tailgate every weekend but do so with friends and family. Not saying I wouldn't stop by but to me setting up tailgates with message board strangers is weird.

I like Bob's posting. Most of it is repetitive shit posting, but a lot of it is witty too. 

A suggestion.... Can we vote (with a lower bar than for banning [say 50% of posters active in the last month]) to mass ignore posters like Bob.... Then allow members who want to unignore them to opt in. Consider it a purgatory of sorts. Let the mass ignore extinguish after a set period of time. Then if they are still garbage, we have another vote. 

If you want to creative, code a list where it is easy to toggle said posters on and off. List would also make it possible for users who don't post as frequently to see who's on tShit List. 

Just a thought.

This is mainly the problem. I did try a gathering at a bar to watch a game one time. The other factor is, if I set something up and being the only one there. Or hell, I can't go, but no one knows whom to look for. It's a nice idea, but I don't see it happening. At least any time soon.

I would say what you're doing with the live betting would fall under "outreach" & is an innovative "out-of-the-box" idea. We need more of that, which is why Swill Chat, Swill Bookie, & Swill Casino also exist. Anything that encourages participation. Tailgates, IMHO, are kind of "pie-in-the-sky" & likely a guaranteed fail.

Also, I don't think any panties are actually in a bunch. One user started this thread. That's not "everybody".

As some other poster stated, RCMB seems to be more local to EL, here its more alumni spread all over the place? Could be wrong

I've got nothing but love for you, but I would recommend refocusing efforts on virtual outreach (assuming you're still up for it). Real life outreach is not gonna be successful IMHO. tRCMB (supposedly) has thousands of active posters & they probably average about a dozen people at their tailgates.

I really am indifferent to it all. I was asked to start the tailgate thread, because Red is out of the country. The difference is that tailgate will happen regardless of whether I start it or not. And frankly, if I want to tailgate, I want some people there and not invest time in which no one shows. Also, this is the first time in a long time I've had season tickets, so I want to have a good time with my friends. But feel free to offer suggestions. I am all ears. And I know I'm not on here as much, so I am open to anyone else wanting to do something.

Yeah, Bob will post the link "You can now ignore Bob", but it's just as annoying. I don't get why he does it, I just zoom by it, because I completely agree a message board should be a free flow of ideas. Wish that some people would realize they're just monotonous, but it's who they are. I'll continue to just flash over his "bump", and "this" and "you can ignore Bob" stuff, but I realize he has bothered enough people that they don't come here. It's his choice, I guess he enjoys that.
