That, and I've got a hollow point with ebola's name on it if it ever decides to threaten me or my kin.

Re: Ebola......
Polifact's "lie of the year" was actually true???? We're all doomed....
A team of prominent researchers suggested Thursday that limited airborne transmission of the Ebola virus is “very likely,” a hypothesis that could reignite the debate that started last fall after one of the scientists offered the same opinion.
No, he didn’t — but look at me, interrupting the exposition because I feel some compulsion to refute a falsehood in their first sentence.
“It is very likely that at least some degree of Ebola virus transmission currently occurs via infectious aerosols generated from the gastrointestinal tract, the respiratory tract, or medical procedures, although this has been difficult to definitively demonstrate or rule out, since those exposed to infectious aerosols also are most likely to be in close proximity to, and in direct contact with, an infected case,” the scientists wrote. Their peer-reviewed analysis was published in mBio, a journal of the American Society of Microbiology.
So, wait: I thought that part of the POLITIFACT LIE OF THE YEAR occurred when George Will said that “there are doctors” who said “some of the airborne particles can be infectious”!! Lie of the YEAR, I say! And yet, we now learn that doctors in a peer-reviewed paper are saying airborne transmission of the Ebola virus is “very likely”??!!??!!
Making the LIE OF THE YEAR . . . the literal truth.

I'm travelling down to Dallas in a few weeks. Ground zero for EIA (Ebola In America). I'll see if anyone has the sniffles and report back.

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Another four U.S. healthcare workers were flown back to the United States for monitoring for possible exposure to the Ebola virus, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Tuesday.
The return of the four U.S. healthcare workers brings to 16 the number of Americans who have returned to the United States from Sierra Leone since Friday, the CDC said.

We lost poster tGreenway. But not because of Ebola. So no. But maybe. I do not know anybody here outside of the Internet so all of the other posters might be a single person infected with the Ebola virus.

The first 10 or so pages of this thread will never not be hilarious.
My favorite was when people (the dude) are just begging for the CDC director to be fired. For pretty much no reason at all other than unreasonable panic.

In today's world that's a very plausible reason to fire someone.

Oh shit, Ebola has mutated! An American doctor who was diagnosed last fall was treated, supposedly successfully. But now they found Ebola in his eye. I'm pretty sure if he looks at you, you'll get Ebola.

Solution: Dump all the Confederate flags in the ocean to feed the hungry sharks. Two problems solved.

Liberia Reports New Cases of Ebola
Liberia Reports New Cases of Ebola
MONROVIA, Liberia — Three new cases of Ebola have emerged in Liberia since the country was declared free of the virus on May 9, highlighting the continuing threat of viral outbreaks in West Africa. The Liberian government said it was tracing scores of people who had recent contact with the three patients.
Officials have yet to determine the source of the infections, whether they are related, or whether they involve a new strain of the virus or a re-emergence of a known strain.
“We’re looking at all possibilities,” said Dr. Thomas R. Frieden, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, who said his agency was assisting the Liberian government.
The government of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf took several precautionary steps on Thursday to help head off any further spread of the virus. The Health Ministry said it expected to have thermal cameras set up at the main international airport by the end of the day, to spot travelers who are running fevers.

Ebola's nurse Pauline Cafferkey's rapid decline after being 'cured' leaves experts staggered
A British nurse who was apparently cured of Ebola earlier this year is now in a critical condition, doctors have said, with experts expressing astonishment at the deterioration of her condition.
Pauline Cafferkey was admitted to the specialist treatment isolation unit at Royal Free Hospital in London on 9 October. She had been treated for Ebola at the same hospital earlier this year, and was discharged in good health in January.
Doctors have said she is suffering an “unusual late complication” of her previous infection. Ebola virus can linger for months in survivors without causing serious ill effects or infection risk and is also known to cause long-term health problems in many patients.
