duffy is getting all kinds of abuse in this thread. We need to make him a mod, or give him a fancy badge or something.

Settle down. I think Bob is just making a point (maybe a good one) that we only seem concerned about this because it happened to a Michigan player. While, that is probably not the case, it does seem that way since we talk about Michigan here a lot.

yeah, this scares the hell out of me for what I'd do if it was my daughter. I'm sure my wife and friends could talk me down perhaps, but my first reaction would be to kill the person who did this. I'm not joking when I say I'd really want to kill the person who beat up my daughter.
Maybe I should get rid of my guns. They only cause more problems.

That is exactly the case. But this is not a domestic violence watchdog website. It's a Michigan State website & thus things related to MSU (yes Bob, including our rival SCum) get more attention than those that aren't.
I'm sure there were dozens of domestic violence arrests across the country over the weekend. While we're all sympathetic to the victims, we're not gonna start threads about any of them unless they're connected to us somehow.

I have a niece whose been hit on multiple occasions by her baby daddy. Scrawny little smart mouth walverine shit who is no longer allowed anywhere near or entire family because:
1. obviously he's an abuser and we're not going to enable that.
2. said niece's father & 3 uncles would likely put the little fucker in the hospital.
When he sees the niece and baby either she goes to him or he waits in the car for her to come out (don't get me started on why she continues to see him ).
P.S. this is one reason I don't own guns. Everyone has a button.

Or ESPN or any of the Blue Wall rags for that matter. I don't see any of them writing multiple articles about random domestic violence arrests from this weekend. Take comfort in the fact that you're not alone in your disgust. Rage Bob. Rage against that machine.

Well, if you get so angry that the thought of actually pulling out a gun and killing someone you love pops into your head, I'd say you probably shouldn't own a gun.

While some may get some kind of sick joy out of the fact that the guy is a uofm football player, if they step back and think for a moment, they'd see that it has nothing to do with that whatsoever. I do believe this is a legitimate issue for our board. I'd like to see stiffer penalties for conviction and we all need to advertise this more. Starting with every board we're on. I'm hoping Bob, that if it was an MSU player, we'd all be as outraged for an act of a Linebacker who benches 320 LB's and runs a 4.5 40, beating up a 5'2" 110 lb female.

As long as we are being honest, if you raised your daughters to be self-sufficient and not have to rely on men to pay their bills, the odds of her not finding a loser boyfriend goes up ten fold. Most people stay in abusive relationships because their other option is being homeless. Not always the case, but it normally is.
Based on what I know of you Wags, you very likely did a great job raising your daughters and beat into their heads they should be strong and independent.

yes, I hope that is so, however, we've all heard the stories of guys just losing it. There are the Eddy Haskels out there who can fool you for a while. I know odds are longer for "staying" in an abusive relationship, but the initial beating that would send many of our daughters away from the asshole, still happens. And that is what I worry about.

That's a scary thought. Can't say I don't agree with you in regards to some of the posters who are so blinded by the thought of victories etc from our teams. I'm fairly confident I'd be outraged. I'd put it at 99% or above. Lets say it's like Kirk Cousins (did you all know he got married recently?), and we got this story today. I'd probably say, well, can we wait and see just a minute first? If it came out like it did for Clark with strong evidence against him, I know I'd be just as disgusted.
Bottom line, we need to have more threads on guys like Rice and Clark, not less and we shouldnt' hold back in discussing this issue because they're from a rival and it seems untowardly for us to do so.
