Thirty-four years ago tonight
I was on the 3rd floor of S. Case Hall, in a classroom with a bunch of my Spartan compatriots, studying for my first finals. And someone came in the classroom to have a whispered conversation with someone up front. It went on some time.
I went up to the guy later on and asked him what the deal was. "John Lennon got shot," he said. "He's dead."
I stared. Really? No -- seriously? "Yeah, man. He's dead."
RIP, John. And here is Jimmy Breslin's on-the-deadline story on the shooting. Mercy, mercy me.
ARE YOU JOHN LENNON?

Forget were I was. Was never a Beatles fan but liked stuff members did on their own, sans Yoko.
Remember exactly where I was when hearing Reagan got shot. Was in the parking lot at West I.M. which served as The Pit. Anyone remember The Pit?

Yep. Every term I was at MSU. Drops and adds, student services, get your student aid vouchers, and pay for your classes. One stop shopping. I could get in and out pretty quickly. I had it down to a science. The Pantry wrote:Forget were I was. Was never a Beatles fan but liked stuff members did on their own, sans Yoko.

Had this copy of the Rolling Stone forever. Lost it during one of my many moves.

The first (and unfortunately not the last) Yoko Ono album I bought. Surprisingly decent.

More Importantly ten years ago on this night 'Dimebag' Darrell was killed on stage during his gig in Columbus, Ohio. I saw him play at some metal fest at Pine Knobb back in the day, all I remember is a bunch metal heads tearing up the lawn during his set. It was pretty damn cool. \m/

We own a piece of Yoko Ono's art, I know she has her fair share of haters but we love it. I'm a fan.

Season of Glass was a good album. I'm not recommending anything else she did, mind you, but that was a good album. Good cover to it, as well (her photograph from her -- their -- place in the Dakota).

Have a few of her 70s album, if you dig the avant garde they are good.

Graduated in 81. Don't recall a prof guide back then. It was mostly word of mouth. Business History with Manning was one of the most feared. He was demanding with shitloads of reading for his essay testsCode_Warrior wrote:

You missed out on Grading the Profs. Check out the link: http://www.bibliophagist.com/cgi-bin/gsb455/15156The Pantry wrote:Graduated in 81. Don't recall a prof guide back then. In EE the most feared prof was Dr. Larry Giacoletto. We always joked that he was pissed off at the world because he got screwed out of his fair share of credit for inventing the transistor. He didn't invent it, but it made us students feel better to think that he got screwed somehow. The average scores on his tests were in the mid 30s. They were brutal. I had the misfortune of having him for my Communication Systems class at the same time some fucking genius curve breaking kid took the class. Everyone was pissed off at that kid. Fucker.
