This is such a shitty response. Only in the US is this type of attitude accepted. It doesn't matter, the same thing that happened when the 4th fell on a Sunday will happen next year. They will end up having to pay the hourly people time and a half for working on the third. Which will piss off upper management, because they aren't US nationals and hate the fact that they even have to pay holidays. They will come in on Friday, ask why the roads are empty, and by 10:30 in the morning we will get an email telling us we can go home.

I've worked plenty of 4th of July's, it was expected that I work and I was fine with that. Hell, I even worked Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Memorial Day, Labor Day and NYD. When I took this job I was told that we get 7 National holiday's a year, then 5 years later they change the policy in order to be petty and take one holiday away, without replacing it? That's just shitty management right there.

Just shut up, keep your head down and work harder. The money knows what's best for you. And hey, you don't need recognition to know you've done a great job buddy.

I only work half a day on Friday so a Saturday Holiday works out great for me. I get paid for 8 hours on Friday and get to take off 4 hours early Thursday.
