Wife has a holiday party tonight with her coworkers. She keeps asking me what liquor we should bring, I think I'm either going to take some Sailor Jerry or vodka.

I haven't decided yet.

Might get some Cokes at the concession stand.

Ran across two bottles of Boulevard's bourbon barrel quad last night, will surely be having one tonight. Would normally move on to scotch but might have to stick with the bourbon theme.

Egg nog with cheap spiced rum last night. Hanging at my friends' house tonight, will drink whatever they've got.

As much as possible

Last night vodka and rum. Tonight, vodka and rum and beer.

I always try to force myself to branch out but usually just end up back with my old standby of Guinness.

But Cameron's nog idea is a good one.

Yeah, this place was definitely looking to unload their pumpkin beers and it was one of the better pumpkin ales I've had this season.

Seeing cameron's post I make an approximation of Teddy Roosevelts Eggnog. Recipe below. I recommend making your own eggnog, if you've never had home made eggnog it puts that store bought shit to shame. If you don't have the time or desire to make your own, buy some good organic eggnog that is thick. Real simple use some bourbon (about 1 to 1.5 shot of bourbon), put in a about a cap full of rum, pour in the eggnog and then mix it up. Put a little nutmeg (optional) on top. There's a shit load of calories in there and you'll need to join a gym in January. Enjoy!


12 eggs (separated)
11/2 cups sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 qt heavy cream (beaten)
1 qt milk
1 qt bourbon whiskey
1 cup jamaican rum (light or dark)
1 tbsp vanilla
grated nutmeg (freshly)


Directions:

Beat the 12 egg whites until stiff. Be sure to have removed the little white hard parts.

Beat in 1/2 cup sugar into the egg whites and set aside.

In a separate bowl, beat until very light the 12 egg yolks (also free of any of the white hard part) with 1 cup sugar and 1/4 tsp of salt.

Combine the egg mixtures and stir until thoroughly blended.

To this, add 1 quart of the heavy cream which has been beaten, the 1 quart of milk and the 1 quart of the bourbon.

After beating this well, add 1 cup rum and the 1 TBS of vanilla.

Pour the eggnog into a gallon jug (putting the extra into a quart jar).

Store in the refrigerator for at least a week before serving so that the flavor will mellow.

Shake or stir thoroughly before serving.

Ladle from a chilled punch bowl into small cups and sprinkle with nutmeg.
