No mention of Bell, but Green was there with Suh.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS -- Although the Bloomfield Hills Brother Rice Warriors were on the court on Friday night, there was a much more popular Warrior in the gym: Draymond Green of the NBA champion Golden State Warriors.

Green, a former Michigan State basketball star and Saginaw native, was on hand to watch Spartans signee Cassius Winston and his fellow Detroit U-D Jesuit teammates take on Brother Rice.

Oh, and he was joined by former Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

Game stopped due to power outage in the gym. No word on the outage possibly being intentional.

Nick Ward and Trevon Duval shined at Flyin to the Hoop

"A future Michigan State Spartan, Nick Ward was extremely impressive on Sunday night. Ward absolutely dominated on the low block and showed even more explosion off the floor than he had shown in the past. Ward has tremendous hands, and now as his conditioning has improved he is running the floor better and becoming a bit more of a rim protector."

Q: What would you say the odds are of Deyonta Davis leaving after this season? Any update on a date of Josh Jackson committing? -- Chris Schneider

A: Davis leaving certainly looks more possible now than it did at the beginning of the season. But I still think it's unlikely to happen.

Chad Ford's ranking of him at No. 13 for the 2016 draft seems to be fueling most of this talk, and it is notable. He's certainly caught the eye of NBA scouts. But other sites, most notably Draft Express, have him in the late first round or second round. It's no guarantee he's a lottery pick if he leaves this year.

Davis, for his part, has said what most underclassmen in his position say: that he's not focused on the NBA right now. He didn't seem to come to Michigan State set on being a one-and-done. It's possible that he's swayed after one year. But my feeling is that he'll be around for two years.

Remember, too, that the NCAA recently changed its deadline to withdraw from the draft until after the scouting combine. Davis could be in a position where he could declare, go test himself at the combine, and then make a decision. It's hard to know now whether that could make him more likely to stay or go, but he'll have more information to make his decision.

As for Jackson, the latest is that he took an official visit to Kansas last weekend, and has also visited Arizona. His AAU team's twitter account recently mentioned a late February announcement. That's on par with what Jackson himself said at an AAU event about a month ago. But don't be surprised if that gets pushed back for some reason.

Watching the last game I'm as sure as sure can be that DD is gone after this year. He's not gonna be polished, he's gonna have major holes in his game, but he has some skillsets that will lead to him being drafted very high regardless of the aforementioned. And he will make the smart decision and go.

Bummer because it would be really fun to watch this kid develop here for 2-4 years. But we know how the NBA drafts, and he knows it, and Izzo knows it. And if he doesn't go now, and suffers a setback next year it will almost be a knock against him. Smart money is on DD going pro.

There's your ship, JJ. Come on down.

How is the nba broken down with guaranteed money etc depending on draft status? I'm with you, if he can get a shitload, he should go. But what's the money difference between being taken 20 and being a lottery pick?

Last year's top pick, Andrew Wiggins, signed a four-year contract worth up to $24.9 million with $11.3 million guaranteed, while the 15th pick in the draft received a deal worth just $8.9 million with only $3.8 million guaranteed.

I might stay one more year if I can jump into the lottery. If he has a great tournament, that might get him near it this year.

Josh Jackson on MSU: 'I love Coach Izzo'

Jackson arrived Friday and enjoyed his visit, having breakfast and then attending practice and watching a film session with Miles Bridges, whom MSU coach Tom Izzo already has signed for next season.

“I grew up a Michigan State fan,” said Jackson, who starred for Detroit Consortium, contributing 22 points and 13 rebounds in a Class C state title game win two years ago. “I love Coach Izzo and the way he coaches. I love the style of play they play with … fast.

Q: What is bigger for MSU's future recruiting: Valentine POY, Davis/Valentine 1st Rd draft picks, another Final 4 or Izzo to HOF? -- CSeeber

A: Here's how I would rank those:

1. Davis/Valentine as 1st round draft picks
2. Valentine POY
3. Final Four
4. Izzo HOF

Fans may not want to think about this, but high-level recruits are typically more concerned about their personal development than potential team success. Tom Izzo is the first to admit that a lottery pick does more for his program's future than a national title.

Davis being a lottery pick would be particularly big for Michigan State. One of Izzo's perceived negatives is the relative lack of young lottery picks he's produced. He's only had one one-and-done, in Zach Randolph. Gary Harris helped reverse that narrative as a first-round pick after two years in 2014, but there have still been relatively few Michigan State players to make the NBA jump after a year or two compared to other top-tier programs.

Davis could help reverse that narrative in a big way. He wasn't seen as a lottery pick when he got to Michigan State, but has turned himself into one quickly. He would give Michigan State coaches a great example to point to when luring future players, particularly big men, to campus.

So if you're looking for a silver lining, it's possible to think of Davis' NBA decision after this season as a win-win on some level.

Valentine winning player of the year would help Michigan State in the future, but his season has been terrific whether or not he wins. Same with Izzo making the hall of fame: his resume is good with or without that. Another Final Four doesn't hurt, but Michigan State already has six more of those than it has one-and-dones under Izzo.

Not sure what the bolt is all about, but Arizona just took a verbal from a 2016 five star guard/forward. They still have room for Jackson.
