I did not expect the original thread to get so long, so it might be best to create a separate thread for 2016.

Nothing we didn't already know about 2016 offer Khalid Kareem.

The 2016 Farmington Hills Harrison defensive end committed to Michigan State on Sunday during the MSU men’s basketball win over Michigan at Breslin Center and tweeted his decision that night, but his father told Rivals.com on Tuesday that Kareem will “postpone” the commitment even though he’s “99 percent sure” his son will end up with the Spartans.

Will a couple of Mid-Michigan kids earn offers from MSU?

WR Kaleb Perry (Mt. Pleasant) has MAC offers on the table but has drawn interest from the likes of MSU and ND.

Perry received a scholarship offer from hometown Central Michigan and its rival Western Michigan before his junior year and has added an offer from Miami (Ohio) along the way. He’s also heard from Michigan State, Tennessee, West Virginia and Ohio State. Former Mount Pleasant quarterback and current Notre Dame quarterbacks coach Matt LaFleur is recruiting him for the Irish.

QB Tony Poljan (Lansing Cathloic) has MAC offers to play basketball but is drawing interest from the big boys for football. At 6'7 he has some great size.

The 6-foot-7 Poljan headlines the area talent and is attracting Division I interest to play football and basketball. Toledo and Central Michigan have offered him scholarships to play basketball, while Michigan State, Notre Dame, Auburn, Toledo and Eastern Michigan are among the schools expressing interest in him for football.

2016 Chicagoland DL picks up an offer from MSU (courtesy of 247). Link below has a highlight video.

Lake Forest (Ill.) Academy defensive lineman Daniel Joseph visited Michigan State on Saturday and confirmed with 247Sports that he left campus with an offer.

Other early offers for the 6-foot-3, 240-pound Joseph includes Duke, Illinois, Syracuse and Vanderbilt.

In addition. 247 also reports a 4 star in-state DE has also picked up a 2016 offer from MSU.

Will the Spartans beat Baylor twice? 2016 four star WR Tren'Davian Dickson has decmitted from Baylor, and holds an offer from MSU among others.

Dickson now holds offers from TCU, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Oklahoma State and North Carolina after each of those schools entered the prolific pass-catcher's recruitment since January 21. As the 2016 recruiting cycle heats up as schools conduct evaluations of prospects around the country, Dickson should continue to see his offer list expand rapidly.

Michigan State and Michigan will put a lot of effort into recruiting the top players in the state for the Class of 2016. How well each team does in the state could go a long way toward determining how well they recruit for 2016. Below is an early look at the top recruits in Michigan for the Class of 2016 based on the Rivals.com rankings.

Is a 2016 TE waiting for an MSU offer? Noah Turner, a top 25 TE and one the top players in Illinois for 2016, says he likes a couple of B1G schools.

Turner, the 11th-ranked player in the state of Illinois according to the 247Sports Composite, doesn't necessarily have a list of schools but listed two schools from Big Ten country that stand out.

"Wisconsin definitely does stand out to me," he said. "I've been talking to their tight ends coach, who is new from their new staff and they definitely stand out. They're only two hours away from me, so it's definitely an eye catcher when someone is that close. I haven't narrowed it down to a certain list of schools yet. I like Michigan State a lot, but they haven't offered."

2016 four star DE puts MSU in his top 3.

On Monday, Robertson took part in the Best of the Midwest Combine in Indianapolis and once again showcased why he is one of the top defensive athletes in the country. The 6-foot-5, 250 senior-to-be lined up at defensive end and also displayed his coverage skills as a defensive back.

Afterwards, Robertson announced his final three schools of Notre Dame, Ohio State and Michigan State from a list of over a dozen programs.

Robertson hopes to get to Michigan State and Notre Dame more in the next few months as he looks to zero in on his college decision.
“I've been to Ohio State a lot,” said Robertson. “I've been to Notre Dame twice, Ohio State seven times and Michigan State twice.”

A list of Pennsylvania's top recruits for 2016. MSU has interest in a couple. #1 is four star OT Michal Menet. While Menet is probably PSU bound, he has been high on MSU. Here is an interview with Menet (previously posted in the 2015 recruiting thread).

Anyone else get the feeling we're going at it against OSU a lot more than Michigan for recruits the last couple of years?

Kind of surprised to see Michigan not really be big competition for us lately except for in-state guys.

Don't forget about PSU. UM is going to have to battle with OSU, MSU, and PSU in the Midwest. Nobody cares about 1922 anymore, so the UM brand has lost ground to OSU, MSU, and PSU as well.

I would appreciate it if you would work harder at preventing errors from creeping into your recruiting analysis. There ARE people that care about 1922, generally they wear piss stained clothing and live in Ann Arbor.

NEXT BIG THINGS

Two sophomores from the Metro East are gobbling up offers.

East St. Louis wide receiver Jeff Thomas and Edwardsville defensive lineman A.J. Epenesa are among the most sought-after players in the Midwest. if not the nation.

Blessed with exceptional speed and great hands, Thomas (5-10, 165) has wracked up 113 receptions for 2,131 receiving yards and scored 33 total touchdowns combined during his freshman and sophomore campaigns. He counts offers from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Syracuse and Texas A&M.

Epenesa (6-5, 230) finished his sophomore season with 38 tackles, four sacks and an interception. He lists offers from Florida State, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Mississippi, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Purdue, Utah, Vanderbilt, Washington State and Wisconsin.

More on Khalid Kareem, who says MSU is still a leader. He also picked up an offer from Alabama.

"I'm uncommitted right now," Kareem said. "But I'm still weighing my options. (MSU) is probably as level as everyone else right now."

Kareem, who is planning to graduate early after the fall semester of his upcoming senior year, admitted that he thought committing to a school early made sense. However, after talking it over, he then realized he had more time to settle on a decision.

"I told my dad that I'd like to commit but when we were in the car he said we should talk it over and make sure that this was 100-percent what I wanted to do," Kareem said. "I talked it over with my mom and we made the decision after to decommit."

2016 OT being sized up by MSU staff.

The fact that the Spartans have had Cupp on campus multiple times and want him back in East Lansing for a spring practice is a sure sign that he is on the short list of linemen they're evaluating closely.

"My coach talked to them at the Ohio coaches clinic, and they said they're excited with me, so hopefully, I can get an offer," he said. "I'm going to try to make it to as many of my offer schools as possible. I am also very interested in Michigan State, Ohio State and Michigan. I will just wait to see what other schools show interest."
