I need a Tanfan type lawyer
Long story short. I lease my cars because I drive less than 10K per year and like something new every 2 to 3. I had an Explorer with a lease end date of 4/30. I took my wifes car to Lexus for service and her salesman tells me they can buy out my lease and trade it in if I lease from them. They take care of my last 2 payments and that's it. They weren't rolling those payments into the lease they were just going to pay the car off. I get the new car and 4 days later I get a call from Lexus telling me that they were unable to accept the trade in, Ford won't let them pay it off so I have to come get the car and am now on the hook for the final 2 payments of the lease on the Explorer. Ford says my options are to pay the car off my self and then sell it privately or turn the car in making my last 2 payments. I checked with a friend who runs a car dealership and he said it is Fords policy to not accept payoffs from other dealerships within 120 days of lease end. I am not sure how Lexus did not know this.
Has this ever happened to anyone ? Advice I have been given is to raise hell with the sales manager. I am not sure what I can do here.

a bit late now, but you should've leased a Mercedes SUV.. I've never had a problem with their dealership or service.

Why do you need a lawyer?
Tell them to take the Ford payment off your Lexus payment.

This just happened yesterday and Lexus seems to be telling me I am responsible. I am trying to work it out with them so they credit me in some way. I dont really need a lawyer and wouldnt hire one over $1000 but was wondering if anyone had experienced this.

Haven't leased a car in a long time. But, if they said they were going to pay off the lease on the Explorer, then make them pay off the lease on the Explorer...or else!

Yes, I am going to have to make 2 payments on my Explorer for March and April. I was told when I leased the Lexus that they are paying off the car and taking care of those payments.

You have to be prepared to walk out of a car dealership. That's your leverage, although if you've signed a lease on a new car...I'm not sure you have any.
Ask them if they want happy customers. Ask them what they are going to do, to make you happy. Check your lease to see if you can get out of it.

I already did lease the Lexus which is the point of this whole story. I leased the car, drove it home and 4 days later they call to tell me this.

When did you sign the lease for the Lexus? Don't you have like 30 days to void the lease for no reason? Tell the Lexus dealership that you're going to exercise that option unless they write you a check for the amount of the two payments on the Ford.

I don't think so but that would be nice to know. I signed the lease on 2/19

They scammed you. I'll bet there's nothing in the lease contract about paying your last two lease payments. Or there's some exception wording that gets them out of it. Hopefully you can void the whole deal.

It's actually them that has 30 days to void the deal (can't secure financing, etc.). The buyer has very little leverage. You have to be willing to give that Lexus back. They're betting you won't want to go thru the hassle and will just suck up the 2 payments.

In my brief foray into twitter, I have found out that a shit-ton of businesses respond to twitter complaints WAAAAAAAAAY faster than any other form of interaction. So there's merit to this suggestion.
