33% of NCAA Tourney schools don't make money on basketball

Twenty three of the 68 schools (33.8 percent) reported that they spent as much as they made for the 2013-14 school year. Those schools included every 15th and 16th seed, which reported $0 made from each of their programs.

Five schools in this year's tournament -- West Virginia, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, UC Irvine and Davidson -- reported losses. West Virginia lost the most ($2.2 million), followed by Notre Dame ($2 million).

Exactly zero? Seems statistically impossible. Not even real nonprofits can pull that off.

I'm not surprised that the smaller schools lose money, but ND has good fan support. I think they might be involved in some accounting trickery. I'd guess the same for WVU and OSU, but I don't really know if they get people out to the games or not...but the ACC/B12 money should cover everything anyway.
