So there's a boil water advisory

Too bad you didn't get an alert on your cell phone. It would have saved you from the next several days of vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration, skin infections and foot fungus, which will ultimately lead to your slow painful death. But yes, it's been nice knowing you.

A blue alert for boil water advisory is a great idea.Jake from State Farm wrote:Too bad you didn't get an alert on your cell phone. After finding out about the advisory I turn on the local TV news at the top of the hour and it isn't mentioned until the fourth story. I guess stories about people who are already dead are more important than a story that might keep people out of the hospital.

Oh, quit carping and eat some Indian food. That oughta clean out anything bad.
Edit: P.S. -- Just so you know, I was home one summer and my parents took me out to dinner. My dad had his dinner boxed up as leftovers and brought them home.
He parked in the driveway when we got home. Now, it was not only summer, but really, really hot -- 90's anyway. So when he came in the next day around noon bearing the box of leftovers, looking sheepish and announcing he'd left them in the car overnight, it was, to my way of thinking, a no-brainer: toss 'em. They've been in a near-perfect Petri dish, and are probably teemig with all the bad things you could possibly contemplate.
It was a no-brainer to my mother, as well. She looked disgusted, waved her hand, and said, "Just eat it."
My dad looked down at the container as though contemplating his doom. He dutifully stuck it in the microwave, though (like it needed it), and had it for lunch. I kinda counted the hours away that day, wondering when he'd disappear for a while, and when I should ask my mother if we needed an ambulance or if she was going to drive him to the hospital. Should never have counted out my dad's iron constitution, though.
So, maybe, my advice on when to eat something isn't the most reliable. Just...a suggestion.

Brilliant idea. I might try that tomorrow if the chili I ate for dinner doesn't do the trick.

I just saw the tweet from the township that the advisory ended two hours ago, after I just watched another pot boil.

Yeah, thanks, WBH. I heard about it on Friday night; at least I caught the advanced warning this time around.
I just checked the township's twitter feed for an update and it has already been cancelled
Sounds like they finally got the 96" water main fixed for good last night.

Nixle is helpful on these types of matters. Find out if your local PDs use it.

The township uses it. They tweet out updates with links to Nixle. Since they already tweet out the updates, I'm not going to give Nixle my mobile #. No f'in way.tGreenWay wrote:Nixle is helpful on these types of matters. Find out if your local PDs use it.

I get the nixle texts and have never had a problem. My only gripe is when the popo issue a highway traffic advisory and only include a mile marker number instead of an actual location with the nearest cross-street.

Nobody cares about whatever the hell you're discussing. We just want to know what kind of stuff Floyd has to pass on to the board.

My town posted to their Facebook that a boil water notice was lifted, but not that there was a boil water notice in the first place. Thanks, guys!

Dolph Ziggler died of dysentery. You found 30 tons of awesome shit, but are only able to carry 200 pounds to the wagon.

I call dibs on the cool shit every single one of you owns after you die or are in a coma for over 24 hours. I'll give you 24 hours to get out of it. If you're still in a coma after 24 hours it's a land rush, which is why I call dibs on your cool shit.
Suck it, turtleneck.
