Not really. We ran into the eventual champions in the Elite 8. Also Appling's injury and his inability to shake it off tswift style changed that team.

I think it was mostly this. Keith was the engine of that team.

Fucking UConn. We had the best team last year, should have been title #3 for Izzo (fuck Butler, Draymond was fouled and we would have kicked the shit out of Duke). This year's team has a lot of heart and skill, and has also had a bit of luck, which we fucking deserve.

He wasn't a bad player (though I really didn't like him as a PG), but I actually think he was a huge reason for the lack of cohesion on the team his last two years at MSU. There was a real lack of leadership on the team his four years there except for the 2012 where Draymond was the unquestioned leader of the team.

The ties of togetherness had to include the freshmen. Dawson and Matt Costello did not feel overly welcomed by the Spartan upper classmen they encountered during their younger years in the program. They didn't want it to be that way with these freshmen.
