2016 NFL Draft - Page 2 Empty Re: 2016 NFL Draft

This would be perfect for Cook.....Fowler in place to support him, etc.

If RG3 Goes to Cleveland, Keep an Eye on Connor Cook to the Broncos in the 1st Round

I don’t anticipate the Broncos drafting a project late in the 1st round. I do think Wentz/Paxton Lynch/Jared Goff could be off the board. This leaves the “2nd tier” of QBs for the Broncos to choose from, and knowing that the 49ers, Rams and Browns were all very public about their interest in Cook at his pro day, I think the Broncos will grab him late in the 1st round, rather than wait for him in the 2nd.

It would be karma for Elway skipping over Cousins in favor of The Stork.

Not sure if you understand how Karma works. Usually you get punished for fucking up, not rewarded. Cook will be a hell of a pro.

Conklin to Seattle. Connor Cook showing-up on more and more draft boards going to Denver in the first round. Not the most convincing description of Connor's QB talent.

This mock draft has Jack Conklin going 23rd to Minnie to hang with Trae Waynes. Connor Cook drops out of the first round with Denver selecting QB Paxton Lynch.

Latest mock draft has Jack Conklin being sentenced to purgatory (Detroit Lions), instead of Indy as I am hoping.

Connor Cook, the QB no one is talking about, won't last long in NFL Draft

"The team captain thing is totally overblown, totally overblown," said one scout who has done extensive work in the Big 10 and on Michigan State in particular. "(All-American center) Jack Allen is the alpha male of that program. Period. There was no way he wasn't going to be named the offensive team captain. He is the toughest guy there.

"You wanna know somebody else who wasn't a team captain in college? I'll give you a hint -- it's somebody you work with ... Boomer Esiason. You think he wasn't a tough guy? You don't think he was a leader? It was just the same sort of situation with him at Maryland at the time, and that's a Pro Bowl quarterback. I'm not saying Cook doesn't have some things he needs to work on, but not beating out Jack Allen as offensive team captain isn't an issue for me at all."

Mel Kiper Jr.: Connor Cook more talented than Kirk Cousins

From the time Connor Cook’s impressive senior season at Michigan State ended, his NFL draft narrative has remained the same: Questions from analysts about why he wasn’t a captain at MSU and, consequently, what kind of leader he is.

Just over a week before the draft, it appears nothing has changed.

As less accomplished quarterbacks battle for the No. 1 overall pick, Cook is still being compared to his Michigan State predecessor at quarterback, Washington Redskins starter Kirk Cousins, who is viewed as an impressive leader.

Mike Mayock breaking it all down.

Offensive tackle is a big need for the Detroit Lions. If they don't get one of the top three at number 16, how big is the talent gap to that next wave of offensive tackles that they would maybe look at in the second round?

MAYOCK:
I actually think there is going to be a little bit of run of tackles right there where you're talking about. If (Ronnie) Stanley and (Jack) Conklin are off the board, as they probably will be, Taylor (Decker) is actually probably next. I think he's going to go right in that range. Indianapolis is at 18, they could use a tackle. Germain Ifedi from A&M, who is both a tackle and a guard, is in the conversation in the first round.

Then in the second round, I think the conversation starts with Jason Spriggs, who could even go late one, but I've got him in two. Le'Raven Clarke from Texas Tech, who has the wing span of a Pterodactyl, that is seven offensive tackles, and that's about average for the first two rounds of the NFL Draft, and I think they're the right guys.

With Riley Reiff going into the final year of his contract, where the Lions are picking at 16 or even later in the draft, will they be able to find someone who could become a better option at left tackle long-term?

MAYOCK:
If you're talking about at 16, I think your best hope is if Conklin's available. I don't think Conklin's going to be there and if he's not there, you're staring at either Taylor Decker or Germain Ifedi in the face, and you've got to decide if either of those guys are upgrades.

As you mentioned, Riley Reiff is in the last year of his contract, and I'm not sure whether it has to be a first-round pick for Detroit.

But if Conklin were there, I'd sprint to the podium. Then I think Decker and Ifedi are in play, and I think Decker could help also.

Yeah, that's from March though, without the trades that gave new teams slotted at #1 and #2. More current one has Conklin going to the Colts, and Cook going to the Cardinals in Round 1, with Shilique "slipping" to the Ravens in Round 2.
