Driving up to Brimley tomorrow. My grand plan was to buy 40 bucks worth at small towns along the way. 5 or so each place.
We getting a beer this week?

The good news - Kansas is one of the states that allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.Dendrobates wrote:I was in Kansas city for some work business. I bought some lotto. I’m not going west this weekend after the bridge just north. Whitefish Bay. My wife’s friends have a place up there. Bay Mills. I will go back up later in the month of August, on that trip I’m going west to iron River.

Heck, I know where DWags tailgates. We'll walk over there and have one of his Bud Lights.

A nice thought, but that would spoil the look of some parts of campus. If I win, I’ll put in underground parking on campus along with the giant Spartan statue. I’ll make sure Swillers user- and (with their consent) real names are the only ones on the plaque outside.

Picked up a couple Fantasy 5 ($143k) online. You're not getting any of that.

Opened an account w/MI Lottery so I don’t have to deal with stopping to buy tickets. Way easier just buying online. Like DWags, I usually grab one or two on the biggest pots. This one is especially fun for all the extra good I could do with it. Lansing doesn’t have a benefactor at the level of Ilitch, Gilbert, VanAndel or DeVos. I would most definitely build an indoor and outdoor concert venue capable of handling opera, symphonies, and rock/country acts. Lansing is sorely lacking in that area.

Re: The Lottery
T wife and I talked about what we would do with the money tonight as we purchased our tickets at a local tavern. Figuring you walk with 450 million I broke it down like this. 12 living siblings between us. 5 million each. Each son gets 50 million. 4 grand kids get 10 million a piece. So we give away 200 million andhave 250 left. Then we can talk about charities and such.
I suggested a million for Emily our cute bartender but it was not well received.

I’m torn about how much I’d give to sibs and in-laws. The one I’m closest with doesn’t exactly need money, but is the one I’d want to give the most to. Family who need money the most would blow it on crap and barely have enough motivation to keep jobs now. That’s why it’s more fun to dream about all the ways in which I could help local charities, families, and the area in general.

This is in the strange category. If I use my desktop to try and buy tickets online Michigan Lottery won't let me. Says I'm trying to buy from an out of state location. If I use my laptop I can let them have my money with no problems.

I have the same roadblock when I use my phone. It tells me to turn on my location services to prove I’m instate. No idea if desktops have location services, but that’s one possibility keeping you from a life of riches.

Do lap- and desktops use location services? I’ve never checked. Seems like for desktops the fixed IP address would confirm to the lottery its location in Michigan.

It's cause your internet provider sucks. (Or you have a VPN to non-michigan places.) The law states you must be in Michigan to gamble. Cell towers validate that easily. Dns from your cable provider should also, but sometimes dont.

I'm using T-Mobile 5g for everything, which runs off their cell towers.

Same numbers, a combination of birthdays. I've hit $100 a couple times but this is the longest I've gone without winning at least $10. Maybe it's a good sign.

Re: The Lottery
Time to play powerball. Once I win, I’ll demand space next to Spartan Stadium to build the giant Spartan statue. If they refuse, as I expect they will, I’ll ask for land on one of the farms south of campus, then build a taller statue. We’ll still have the effect of the Spartan watching over the stadium and campus. Then they can charge visitors to park and ride up to the viewing room. Maybe that location is where MSU can build its museum of Spartan sports history, which visitors can enjoy… for a separate fee, natch.

That’s what she said.
I opened an account w/the state lottery. That way, I don’t have to stop somewhere just to buy tix. Like you, I only play when the payout is exceptionally large. But like everything else in life, I only want to give it a minimum amount of effort.
