Just bought a Silverado. Three weeks ago. I drove not one but two Chrysler town and countries for over a decade. When I was getting rid of the last one I said fuck it, kid is gone to MSU next fall, one left in the house, I've been boring dad for quite a while, I loaded it up. Love it. I will use it to haul some stuff now and then but I didn't really buy it for that. I'll tailgate with it and shit like that but I bought a truck. Welp.
Why a truck rather than a sports car?
Drive up north a lot. Winter driving. I used to have sports cars in my 20's and 30's. No more. I have a 64 T-Bird. I love the truck got it loaded, but I don't park it away from everyone. Funny, but my 15 year old daughter likes driving it more than her sisters Jeep or mom's commander for her practice driving on her permit.

I still drive the same van I've had for the past 12 years. I like to think it's because I had to haul around amps and drums and instruments and what not. But who knows... I'll let someone else tell me why it is.

It was a Jeep Cherokee, kind of fun to drive but not very useful as a utility vehicle unless towing a trailer.

I bet it is often pickups that try to run you off the road while you are on your bike.
I am not sure if the angry road rage monster is the same person that has no purpose for driving a truck or is another segment of truck culture.
they usually have some sort of public proclamation to a sports team affixed to the vehicle, as well.

Re: Pick up trucks
My family has two of them and we haul a lot with them. We use it to bring firewood to our lake house in the fall for the wood burning stove. There's hauling the boat down to Keuka Lake as well, and it was really handy in moving my siblings and I into college. I use it just about every weekend of peach season to bring peaches from the orchard to market and every weekend in the fall to haul a skid of apples to market since our main truck can't fit all the apples we bring. We get a ton of usage out of a pickup truck.
Plus, you never know when you have to haul something or help a friend out with moving something. It's good to have a truck just in case.

Re: Pick up trucks
I plan on living in the country so that I can have a big ol' garden. I'll probably want to get a pick up truck so that I can haul soil and mulch and all kinds of things of that nature back and forth. I'm sure I could do that in an SUV, but that'd get the SUV carpet and seats and stuff all dirty and what not. Plus isn't 4x4 pretty standard on them? That can come in handy in the snow.
I think pick up trucks are pretty darn useful. My dad has a pickup truck that he only uses to pull the camper from Lansing to "up north" (as Bob would say) to Ludington SP and Sleepy Hollow and what not.

First of all, RIGHT....
Secondly, there are desperate, fat and ugly chicks of all ages.
Lastly, if your whole method for evaluating your life is based on banging chicks, you are failing. Especially when you live in your friends garage and call it a carriage house.

Aren't the new breed of trucks basically the new Hummer? The top end models are roomy for 5 people to sit in, have pretty good hauling capabilities and decent gas mileage. My experience around trucks is going out on farms though, so they are kind of a necessity.

Minivan. Chevrolet Venture.
It's gotten me through multiple 8 hour snow/ice storms to make it to shows... served as housing for 4 smelly dudes on tour... moved me to NYC... is helping move me back... and has been camped in numerous times in the Adirondacks.
It's served me quite well.

Maybe there can be a Swill tailgate or something. I plan on making up for some lost tailgating years... don't worry, I'll bring the weed (and shrooms).

blanch has a very one track mind if you haven't noticed.
Maybe we can find a game to do a swill tailgate. Just tough for me because I'm relied on to cook for my other tailgate.
