Mets ownership is so friggin stupid though, you guys don't understand how dumb they are. They are run by the Matt Millen equivalent in baseball. They could easily blow this.

Wojo is saying there's a Fulmer in their system. Hopefully it's him, not the old guy.

RHP Michael Fulmer makes more sense for Tigers in Cespedes trade. He's Mets' 7th-rated prospect. Luis Cessa is 16th. Not bad return.

Tigers have done alright.
Got multiple players that is better than shot in the dark draft choices that might not be ready for 3-4 years if they didn't trade.
Anything to get more pitchers is a good thing and JaCoby Jones might be an alternative at 3rd.

Michael Fulmer is what the Tigers needed for Cespedes: a starter with swing-and-miss stuff who could impact their 2016 rotation.

We've picked up 5 prospects.
The stats for starters are 1/3 make it to the big leagues, 1/3 get traded and 1/3 don't make it.
Tigers freed up some money, got some players back for the farm system and if they can re-sign Yoenis at the end of the season then it's been a great 'reboot' imo.

5 Pitchers - 1 SS/2B/CF - And as many as 4 of the pitchers supposedly could be MLB ready by spring so that's pretty good.steveschneider wrote:We've picked up 5 prospects.

Fulmer & Cessa in this deal
Norris, Boyd & LaBourt in the Price deal
Jacoby Jones in the Soria deal.
LaBourt went to Lakeland the other pitchers will either be in MLB, AAA or AA but supposedly ready by spring.
Jones a possible replacement for Kinsler, platoon partner for Gose or trade bait.
Depending on clearing waivers they still could trade Simon, Avila and Rajai for more lower level type prospects.

One rival exec calls RHP Michael Fulmer, going from #Mets to #Tigers, an “unbelievable get for a rental” (Cespedes).
Fuller was 44th overall pick in the 2011 draft. Of course, #Mets quite deep in young pitching.

Tigers turned the last year of Rick Porcello into 4 WAR year from Yo, Alex Wilson, Fulmer, Cessa, and Speier.
@BenBadler 3m3 minutes ago (BA)
Michael Fulmer, going to the Tigers, was the Mets' No. 5 prospect. Heavy fastball up to mid-90s with a plus slider, pounds the strike zone.
@MarcCarig 2m2 minutes ago
Scout on Fulmer recently says development has taken a jump. Won't be long until MLB ready. Legit mid rotation guy.

Re: tOfficial 2015 Detroit Tigers thread
I'm very happy with the Tigers' moves this deadline. Frees up some money, adds to what was the worst farm system in MLB, and gives a much better return than the two draft picks they would have gotten for losing Price and Cespedes to free agency.
There are some nice pieces. In particular, I really like the influx of young pitching talent into the farm system. They won't all pan out, but at the very worst, the Tigers have some trade chips to use.

If Cespedes returns to Detroit as expected, Tigers got him, Wilson, three prospects for Porcello. Yikes. - Tony Paul

Mets are seriously the Lions of MLB.
Also, the Wilponds lost so much of their money in the Bernie Madoff deal they are dead broke. They literally hit gold with their rotation they have, but it's highly doubtful they are able to re-sign Yoenis.
Two things that could go against us: latin stars in Queens tend to blow up big, he may achieve a new level of celebrity.
That being said, the Mets are the equivalent of the Detroit Lions. Every year they find a way to blow it.
Over all I like our chances of getting Yoenis back.

Technically, yeah. MLB actually predicts losing to the Os 3-0 in the ALDS.

It's not unreasonable to think that they could contend as soon as next year.

Still a lot of work to do. Definitely going to have to add at least one more quality pitcher.
