Best restaurant in Grand Rapids?
Just got home from a long time away. Going to Greenwell. Furniture city creamery for desert. That's my favorite. What's yours?

There's one off Alpine, actually. Good pie. Although, Nantucket Bakery is my go to for thin crust.

I don't think the food tastes as good since it was shut down for the noravirus and cleaned up. I think the old grease gave a lot of flavor to the food.

Never heard about that. I love the Beltline Bar, we just went there for my B-day a couple weeks ago and it was delicious.
I have friends who think it's overrated but whatever.

Re: Best restaurant in Grand Rapids?
The Beltline Bar has been around for over 50 years and been serving gringo Mexican almost as long. It's an institution. Not my favorite but they still pack them in.
I found Taqueria San Jose awhile back and am hooked. Family run limited menu taqueria that is a hidden gem. Limited seating and outdoor seating in decent weather. It's in an old Dog n Suds at 1338 S. Division on the east side of the road.
I like SanChez for tapas and Judson's for a higher end steak place. Ruth Cris came in but it's another freakin' chain and I try to avoid chains.
If you want a burger the Choo Choo Grill is good but it closes at 4:00 and check for Satyrday hours.

All solid recommendations. One of my favorite mexican restaurants is Tacos De El Granjero over at bridge and lane.

You will probably try to rub hair product in my eyes, or whatever the "men" of GR use to make their hair stand up and/or frost their tips.
Or maybe you will just throw wooden shoes at me.

The ladies here aren't as bad as I thought they would be.
I thought it'd be a bunch of chunkers. Been driving up to Fremont and I thought I'd see a bunch of honey boo boos, but they actually breed some pretty decent country girls up there. It ain't like St. Johns or Mason, sure.... but then again, it ain't NYC quality.
I'm getting scared.... of winter.

Anyways... another restaurant I've gone to every single weekend (cause it's in walking distance) is Timber's Inn out here in the fucking boondocks.
But they do got some good food. Red Hot Alfredo... check it out.

She did, but her boyfriend that was a bartender there, he did not. Apparently if he didn't like someone he would spit in their beer

I hope he wrapped his car around a tree.
It's also why I'm friendly to people handling anything I plan on consuming.

Why do you drive to Fremont? Also the winter will be pretty similar to NYC.

I gotta drive up there until the end of October for work...
So you're saying I won't see any snow until January and temps will rarely dip below 20?
NYC winters felt like Lansing springs to me, sure it snowed and things froze but it was nothing like MI in January, which was surprising because I didn't think it'd be all that different... besides this last winter I hadn't seen more than a flake in 2 winters.
I've just been told it snows a bit more than usual on this side of the state..... And I have a vague memory of dealing with temps down below 0 at certain points.... maybe I made a mistake....

Re: Best restaurant in Grand Rapids?
^ Grove has really great farm to table cuisine, although expensive. Another good farm to table joint is Graydon's Crossing.
Chop House is the best steakhouse.
The Green Well, Stella's and Winchester all have great burgers.
Tacos El Cunado (downtown market), Taqueria San Jose and El Granjero are great for Mexican food.
Best breakfast/brunch would be Marie Catrib's , Real Food Café or Anna's House.
Best Sushi is at Maru downtown or Ju Sushi Lounge (East GR)
Blue Dog Tavern has the best hot dogs (yes better than Yesterdog).
Best seafood is at Leo's.
Best BBQ is at a new place called Two Scott's BBQ near Mitten Brewing Company and The Long Road. (All 3 are worth checking out)
