Dantonio Field @ Spartan Stadium??
I hadn't thought of this but it seems entirely plausible at some point in the future. Opinions?
Ask Griff: Michigan State's recent football success impractical, but so what?

Q: Mike here's a question for your mailbag. Isn't it nice that even when Mark Dantonio extended a school record streak of nine consecutive years being bowl eligible, nobody has brought up bowl eligibility because of this team's lofty (and realistic) aspirations? Is this the best era for MSU football ever? What else, if anything, does Dantonio have to do to be considered the best MSU football coach ever (does one national championship do it)? — MSUgrad9902
MG: I was talking to a former MSU football player this morning, and he said he believes Spartan Stadium will one day be named after Dantonio, and I'd agree with that. MSU's run of 33 wins in 36 games is remarkable and rare, as is the 12-game road win streak in the Big Ten and the 11-game win streak. The back-to-back top five finishes mark the first for the program since 1965-66. This is no doubt the best run in modern-day history. So much has changed since MSU's earlier eras of dominance. It's probably not fair to compare them.

Time to take a breath. Coach Dantonio has only been at MSU 9 seasons, not 19. If he retires at 65 it will be 15 years.
3-5 years after he retires, the success continues and all the smoke has cleared (no scandals uncovered from his tenure) it's time for the conversation.
Rename the section of Chestnut Road between Red Cedar and West Shaw Lane Dantonio Ave.
3-5 years after Izzo retires rename the section of Birch Road between Kalamazoo St. and West Shaw Lane Izzo Way.

How about we start building natty championship coach statutes and we make em look like the people they're supposed to depict?
Izzo, Heathcoate, Duffy and Biggie. If we include hockey then Mason and (gasp) Comley?

If the statue idea is carried through Comley's would end up being designated at the one to paint by any fan base including MSU's.
To MSU fans Comley's the Rodney Dangerfield of MSU's National Championship coaches although he won 2 and Mason only won 1 more NCAA Championship and the both won 1 NAIA.

Come on Bob, You'd be more excited about a vibrating bicycle seat that runs for 8 hours on a pair of AAA batteries.

that sounds like a bad idea. My primary mountain bike is okay, 'cause it's full suspension. I could use a new saddle on my primary road bike, though - the one you outlined doesn't sound terribly appealing, though.

I came here to post that there's no chance in hell that Spartan Stadium is named after Dantonio. Our hockey arena when it goes to Olympic-sized ice will be called Dantonio Ice Arena.Dr. Strangelove wrote:How about we start building natty championship coach statutes and we make em look like the people they're supposed to depict?

A couple more years of sustained double-digit records and major bowl wins, and I'll be all for it!

I love this idea, mostly because I've been suggesting it for at least 10 years. I was happy to see Escanaba did something similar with Izzo and Mooch. Those sumbitches stole my idea.
