If MSU cheated to win that many championships and had that kind of run, I don't think I'd have a big problem with it.

Even if you knew we would get caught eventually?

Depends on what we were doing.
I don't think I'm as ethical as I want my kids to be. That kind of bums me out.

Here are links to New England's and Detroit Lions draft histories.
http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?teamId=3200&type=team
http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?teamId=1540&type=team
Belichick has been the Patriots HC since 2000. In 2001 they had the 6th pick overall. Another year they had the 13th pick and another was 16th. Typically have their first pick has been 20 or lower. They rebuild offensive lines with rookies that aren't top ten choices. They restock their defense the same way yet all they do is win. Their QB was a 4th rd pick.
Compare with Detroit that has had some awful GM's and a revolving door of marginal or worse coaches since 2000 when Belichick took the New England job.
If William Clay Ford would have hired Belichik in 2000 and the Lions would have been having the same success Bill Belichick would be bigger than Sparky Anderson and Scotty Bowman combined in the eyes of Detroit fans.

It's more than just drafting though. He Taylors his system to his personnel as well as anyone and scouts other teams as well as anyone in the nfl. He's an incredible coach with the best qb of all time on his team (top two at least) and he does it with largely nameless players or guys who were though to be washouts. Look at guys like Deion branch, legarrett Blount, Jonas gray, dion Lewis, and a million others. They don't succeed when they aren't in New England. Freakishly good coaching.

it is interesting to say that the QB is the best all time but the other players are only good because of the coaching
not to say Brady isn't good, but again go back to that year he went down and what the team did with Cassel as QB. The guy hadn't started a game since High School and went 11-5

Re: The Patriots - let's be honest
It is more than drafts because New England doesn't have a GM. It's Belichik and he drafts to fill his team's needs. He's also ruthless, cold, pragmatic SOB and has an owner that trusts his judgement.
Brian Hoyer isn't a Patriot because he stunk. He was released when he would have gotten a pay bump for his 2nd NFL contract. #2 QB's on the Pats go when their league minimum gets too high. Jonas Gray had some great games as a rookie, was late or missed a meeting when the Pats visited Detroit (his hometown). He never saw the field again and was later released. Belichik picks up Blount who had been cut from the Steelers for smoking blunts and they never skipped a beat. Welker had some concussion issues and wanted a bigger contract so Bellchik made him a free agent and the Pats got Edelman.
It comes down to knowing your philosophies and systems. Being able to identify what players fit, when players become expendable and knowing which players to sign to long term contracts. Teams like the Lions have had multiple GM's who are drafting for multiple coaches for who knows how many philosophies and systems
Since Robert Kraft hired Belichik for the 2000 season the Lions have had 3 general managers, 6 head coaches and two interim HC's .
Lion GM's have been:
Joe Schmidt whose last year was 2000
Matt Millen 2001-2007 Millen is thought to be one of the worst GM's in NFL history by many who cover the league.
Martin Mayhew 2008-present. The guy who drafted QB Stafford #1 overall and didn't draft offensive linemen to protect him.
The Lions coaches since 2000
Bobby Ross who walked with 7 games left in 2000 (Gary Moeller finished the year)
Marty Mornhinweg fired after 2 seasons
Steve Marriucci fired with 5 games left in his 3rd season (Dick Jauron finished the year)
Ron Marinelli fired after 3 season
Jim Schwartz fired after 4 seasons
Jim Caldwell current coach whose tenure with the Lions is on life support.
