Maximum sustained winds of 70mph isn't a hurricane. Probably a UM fan that called it that. They have a penchant for always exaggerating the level of things from pre-WWI to make it sound better.

I know it's a week away, but three more Lake Superior shipwrecks from 1883-1901 were recently discovered and cataloged.

I couldn't name 2 other ship wrecks on the great lakes and I am born and bred, lived around the state my whole life... Sooo, are we just remembering the song on this day?

Probably to an extent, though I think it is the most recent one that had more than just a couple of deaths. And maybe the way that it disappeared so quickly adds to the intrigue.

This is an excellent book to read if you ever actually discover an interest in other wrecks. It’s a big book and I wouldn’t recommend the paperback edition just because it’s voluminous. Better to get the hard cover or larger paper cover edition. Even better if you download it as an e-book.
