Kirby Smart's leaving Alabama for Georgia. Who's next on the coaching carousel?

Georgia is reportedly hiring Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart to replace Mark Richt. It's a big step up for a first-time head coach, as the Georgia program post-Richt is in a far different place than it was before him.

Elsewhere, Oregon offensive coordinator Scott Frost is headed to the Magic Kingdom to coach UCF. Frost had been thought to be a contender at Syracuse, among others. And it looks like Houston's Tom Herman is going to stay with the Cougars, despite interest from almost every athletic director with an open head coach spot.

Maryland fan poll shows overwhelming support for Richt, who may not be available because he's either being drafted to run for governor, or interviewing the the Virginia job.

Sure Durkin is getting a nice bumpin pay and is Kevin Plank approved.

Do think its a bit odd that he'd take a HC job in the same division as umaa. Jeem's recruiting in NJ, DC and Virginia just a tougher.

I guess Harbaugh is a little different from Bo in one respect. Bo blocked Bill McCartney from pursuing the MSU job.

“I went in to talk to Bo, and I told him that if the right opportunity came along, I’d be interested. He said, ‘Okay, when the right job comes along, come see me.’ The Michigan State job opened shortly after that, and I went in to see him and he said, ‘You do not want to go there and I am not considering helping you get there. Get that out of your mind.’ And I did. So that was the first one that came along I was interested in and I didn’t pursue it.

This is hilarious. Tulsa Co-OC all but takes the Texas OC job yesterday, backs out today.

Sterlin Gilbert opts not to join coaching staff at Texas

Tulsa co-offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert won't be heading to Texas after all, according to ESPN's Gerry Hamilton and multiple reports on Friday.

Gilbert was expected to leave Tulsa to become the Longhorns' new offensive coordinator, according to multiple reports Thursday, but ended up declining the offer.

Texas coach Charlie Strong is looking to reboot the Longhorns' offense heading into his third season in Austin. He stripped offensive coordinators Shawn Watson and Joe Wickline of their play-calling duties after one game this season. Receivers coach Jay Norvell called plays for the final 11 games of Texas' 5-7 season.
