The Eagles were ok. But they broke no new ground. They were just MOR white, suburban soft rock with a twinge of country to appeal to the honkey hicks in the south and rural areas. Music to yawn to.

Why does a band have to break new ground? Can't a band just be a good, solid rock 'n roll band? I was never a huge Eagles fan but I respect the hell out of what they did. One of America's true classic bands.

I pretty much checked out of The Eagles after The Long Run record.. prior to that album, though, The Eagles are very, very difficult to match. A lot of great songs.. they were one of the first to delve into the country-rock sound of the mid-late 70's. That sound can still be found in some bands and I would imagine that every musician worth their weight in talent would list The Eagles as an influence if not an inspiration.

Glenn Frey Drive gets the green light in Royal Oak

Fans helped pave the way, and Glenn Frey Drive is a go.

The Royal Oak School Board has approved renaming a stretch of Willis Avenue in honor of the late Eagles star, who grew up in the suburban Detroit city before scoring fame with the Eagles in the 1970s.

The 12-member board voted unanimously Thursday evening in favor of the proposal, following two weeks of enthusiastic social-media support from fans around the world.

Glenn Frey Drive, intersecting North Washington Avenue and North West Street, will run adjacent to Royal Oak Middle School, which once housed Frey's alma mater, Dondero High School. New signs will be installed in a ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 18.

Doesn't sound like a long run.

I think between Taylor Swift, T-Pain, One Direction and Beyonce combining for what will be a misty-eyed tribute, they'll really nail the compilation featuring the Glenn Frey vocals of "Tequilla Sunrise", "Take It Easy" and "Peaceful, Easy Feeling"...

it'll be a great night in suburbia as these fine young artists pay tribute with their golden talent delivered from god.
